    Everton eye Joaquin

Everton and Roma have made their interest in Joaquin known to Valencia, after the player's agent confirmed that a move could be on the cards.

The duo have reportedly made tentative enquiries about the Spain international after it became clear that he has grown disillusioned with life at the Mestalla this season and could be tempted away.

Valencia's financial problems are set to result in various players moving on, with the club looking to balance the books by selling off a number of big names, including David Villa, David Silva and Raul Albiol.

"I cannot deny that there has been offers from Italy and the Premier League because European clubs are well aware of Valencia's situation because it has been well-documented," Joaquin's agent, Eduardo Espejo told Marca.

"I agree with what David Villa's agent said in the sense that things at Valencia have meant that (they have) been devalued, but I also cannot say how much the club will ask for him."

While the former Real Betis star's buy-out clause is set at €40m - with the club having paid €25m for him two years ago - it is believed that Valencia would accept a bid of between €15 and €18m for his services.

Joaquin was on the verge of joining Chelsea three seasons ago when Jose Mourinho was keen to take him to London, but the deal never materialised.

I used to want Joaquin so bad (in a football sense )

Haven't seen much of Balencia this year, what's he been like.

It's best not to talk about this season, he hasn't been great. I would take him in a flash though.

Season ticket renewals up I take it?

Same thing every summer, a big name linked around may time and then again just before the end of the window. Amazingly the deals always seem to fall through.

I don't think I have ever seen Joaquin have a good game.

When England played Spain a couple of years ago he absolutely raped Ashley Cole all game (a pre-chelsea mobile phone bumming actually quite good ashley cole). Twas the same game that Xabi and Xavi bossed the midfield. And Wright-Phillips was subjected to racist chants IIRC.

I actually didn't see that (I remember listening to it on the radio). Really an international friendly against England doesn't count as a top level match any way.

                    True

It's just one that stuck in my head. I did see some top performances him in a Betis shirt, but have seen next to nothing of him at Valencia.

I remember that England match, think he nutmegged Cole that night and gave him a torrid time all night. This is when A Cole was really considered to be a top class left back.

Joaquin's career seems to have really blown hot and cold. He was at times unbelievable at Betis, but at Valencia he has often been average. The Valencia crowd have been on his and pretty much every player's back this season and he has been in and out of the team, making it impossible for him to find any form.

This would be a risky signing for any team, but looking at his attributes I just feel he is so suited to the premiership.

Spain v Sth Korea WC 2002

absolutely tore their defense to shreds, and was wrongly called out (he was well in) when crossing for Morientes' disallowed winner

He had a great game against England a couple of seasons ago.

To judge him on this year would be wrong. All Valencia players have been poor, even Villa.

Last season he was pretty good IMO. He returned to the young Joaquin that burst onto the scene, and took players on for fun. His crossing is still **** hot too. Pity Valencia turned into such a pile of **** this year.

I will be hoping he has a good Euro 2008.

I wouldnt be dissapointed at all with Joaquin coming here. He is better than Quaresma, Bentley, Manicini et al.

They are all inconsistent, every winger is bar Messi and Ronaldo. But Joaquin is unplayable when on form. He would be lethal on our right side
