    New Carlsberg ad

    Charlton
Well, here we are in a room with two manky hookers and a racist dwarf. I think I'm heading home.

    That's a great ad.

The funniest thing about it for me is Giles.

He just looks so out of place.

That's quite poor IMO. There's no idea beyond gratuitously featuring football and women.

I suppose it may be different if you have any affinity with Charlton and the other has-beens.
      .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

It's more fun for us Irish.

All three are former Irish national team managers, Giles has been a pundit on RTE for years, and Charlton and McCarthy are often figures of fun on Irish comedy sketches etc.

We would have much more affinity with their perceived personas than any other country.

Well that's what I was thinking.

All the same it's still not much of an ad IMHO of course.

"I know, let's have some well-loved football celebs and we'll show some goodlooking women!"

"Yeah, that'll do. Who's the client anyway?"

"Dunno but we'll just slap on their logo somewhere at the end."

              "Yeah, that'll do."

Well I've only seen it the once, and it made me chuckle - can't watch the Youtube links they're blocked at work.

I agree it is a bit of a flimsy conceit but well loved football celebs and good looking women are enough to entice the majority of the male population.

Not sure how much it'll improve sales though.

                  Fair enough.
