    Richard Dunne

Available for £5m according to reports and linked with a move to Spurs.

I know we are very well set at CB, but that would be a bargain. He's been a colossus for Citeh this season, would be happy to see him fighting it out with Carra, Skrtel, Agger (hopefully) and Sami.

Not a priority signing but would be a shame to miss out on him as he has turned into a fine player.

Yeah it's just a pity we don't need him. He's a class act but it'd be a pointless signing and a waste of money, given our other priorities.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

True, but I want him anyway

Will be a good signing for Spurs anyway, wouldnt be surprised if there's some late competition for him though.

I would have thought Newcastle would be in for him.

The question is would you swap Agger, Skrtel or Carra for him? He wouldn't take the back up role Sami is probably going to fulfill next year, so thats not really an issue. I would say undoubtedly no, so him coming to us is a non-starter.

He would be an excellent signing for Spurs who can't rely on Woodgate or King to last a season.

Oh 100% no...but it's just shame to see such a good player go on the cheap.

I don't see why Arsenal don't go for him tbh, they need a powerful, dominant centre half. There's few better than Dunne. He'd be perfect for them.

Getting better with age and makes less mistakes than he used to.
                  Still not top class.

In the pantheon of pointless signings this one would take some beating...

He's completely anithetical to the philosophy of players that Wenger has bough through and in though. he defends using pace and organisation rather than strength and positioning in the sense used by slower defenders like Dunne and Hyypia. It is notable that Arsenal have one of the smallest defenses in the country. I think it is a conscious decision on Wengers part (as is nearly everything to do with Arsenal's style of play).

Along with Vidic, Ferdinand and Carvalho he was the best centre half in the league last season.
He has been for a few seasons now.

The thing is he isn't slow, he's actually pretty quick. Not as quick as the Arsenal defenders definetely not but he is quick enough.
People assume he's slow because of his his build.

In a way he resembles Sol Campbell in that he is quick once going but can be slow on the turn. He is not as good as Campbell once was and as such I think it is unlikely Wenger would deviate from his overall plan to accommodate him. My point was really that he goes for footballers first and then players with certain athletic qualities, the athletic qualities he likes are not those of Dunne and Dunne is not as accomplished a footballer as Wenger tends towards.

I agree with you though in the sense that I think Arsenal could benefit from a different leader within their team (and that Dunne in recent years has shown the right mentality). Gallas is not the best solution even if he is a good fit with Wenger's approach in many ways. For me they need to find someone with Gilberto's mentality but who demands a place in the team and fits the style they currently play.
