Nothing much to report. Torres has looked lively upfront having one shot which was easily saved. Alonso has, at times, looked good in midfield but has, on occasion, reacted slowly when harrassed. Boring game tbh.

Im watching it on Sopcast. 0-0 at half-time, quite surprising.

Spain lacking their usual precision. 5 man midfield and all they are doing is passing it in circles and triangles. All very good but Torres has little support up top and until they start pushing more players into the box they will struggle.

Fair enough this is a friendly, but if they go into the tournament with Villa on the bench it will be a big big mistake. Torres and Villa together is a must or else it's just a complete waste of talent and firepower

He is on the bench though. Point is they are playing a system which uses 1 up top. If they planned to use the 442 system during the tournament itself surely they should have used a replacement for Villa in this game to play alongside Torres

They have planned on 451 for the main part in Euro 2008 so I hear but if it's as ****e as you say, maybe they will change their mind. I'd deffo have the 2 of them playing.

Villa's injury could rule him out of Spain opener

SANTANDER, Spain (AP) - David Villa is doubtful for Spain's opening European Championship match against Russia after a medical scan on Wednesday showed that a leg injury was more serious than expected.

Villa hurt his right thigh after being tackled in practice on Tuesday and will miss Wednesday's friendly against the United States.

The team will examine Villa's progress over the coming days before deciding whether the Valencia striker can play the Group D opener on June 10.

"What worries us most right now is Villa," team doctor Jorge Candel told Spanish media. "Suffering an injury in the muscle shouldn't create problems but we'll have to see how he evolves in the coming days."

Villa was looking likely to be a regular at the tournament in Austria and Switzerland after scoring a goal in Spain's 2-1 friendly win over Peru on Saturday. The match against the U.S. is the last before Spain travels to Austria on Thursday to prepare for the tournament, where it also faces Sweden and defending champion Greece in group play.

It's not the only injury doubt Spain is suddenly facing.

Midfielder Andres Iniesta will miss Wednesday's match with food poisoning, though he is expected to play against Russia.

Forward Sergio Garcia underwent a medical scan that revealed a quadriceps problem. The Zaragoza player's progress will also be measured over the coming days.

"If he progresses well then there won't be any problems. If he doesn't it will be a problem," Candel said.

Fernando Torres' ankle strain was also on the mend according to a third scan, but it would be up to coach Luis Aragones whether the Liverpool striker would feature against the U.S.

Mallorca striker Daniel Guiza, the Spanish league's leading scorer with 27 goals this season, is expected to start Wednesday's friendly. Spain's three leading strikers combined for 85 goals scored in all competitions this season.

FFS. Sick of every injury affecting ME in some way or other. Backed Villa at 16s and a Spain/Villa double at 40s. FFS!
