Ian Wright slates Chelsea over Swp treatment

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has slated Chelsea over their treatment of son Shaun Wright-Phillips.

Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp is ready to swoop with a £10million bid, while Spurs and Aston Villa are also interested.

Now Shaun's dad, Arsenal legend Ian, is hinting that the winger could be ready to leave Chelsea. Wright told the Mirror: "They made him a lot of promises that just didn't materialise. He was left out for a couple of games because his confidence went. Then he came in and he didn't do well.

"Then he started to do well then he got left out again.

"Nobody could have envisaged how its gone for Shaun at Chelsea because if we could have done then he wouldn't have gone there. It's as simple as that.

"When it started it had all the hallmarks of a player building a great career at Chelsea but it hasn't worked out."

Wright has defended his boy's decision to join the Blues in the first place.

He added: "You have to understand, other clubs had come out of the bidding at £14m and £15m when we know that in a proper market - without any of this over inflated stuff - Shaun would have gone for about £10m max. The fee ended up at £21m and they were the champions.

"So when he was going there we were all absolutely over the moon.

"We were thinking: 'Wow! They really want him, look at how much they paid for him!'

"But obviously Chelsea could afford to have someone like that and play him sparingly.

"When I used to watch him at City I used to gush so much about how well he used to play.

"I used to say: 'How lucky am I? To be able to watch my boy playing that well?'

"But he has gone to Chelsea and he just hasn't had the same amount of chances. That's just the way it has worked out."

you have to say that everyone but him saw that coming. He was never an ideal fit for the Mourinho formation and the amount of money Chelsea were willing to pay was never something to set any stall by as they could clearly pay any amount without any disadvantage.

Sometimes I wonder about players friends and families, and their cheating scummy agents. I mean it is very obvious in a lot of cases that a player picks the wrong team, SWP was a classic, it was clearly obvious to me and lots of others that he was going to get left to rot at the chavs, despite being a great prospect. Young players would be far better off going to a team where they are needed and will play regularly. That said the chavs are the worst ones here and they have ****ed over a whole generation of talent. Classless, mafia *******s.

Another player Jose bought just to stop us from buying him.

Glad he didn't. He was never the player he was touted as being.
