    How chuffed must Wenger be?

Milan and Barcelona are fighting it out to spunk £25M over a player (Adebayor) none of us had heard of when Wenger bought him. He can certainly spot a talent...pity for him that Arsenal are a feeder club for Milan/Barca/Madrid...Pity also for Blackburn that they're about to get the Guvnor as manager...

Hasn't Adebayor come out and rubbished rumours of him leaving multiple times?

But yeah Wenger does well by selling players on that he paid very little for.

Wenger is a genius. Anyone that says otherwise needs shooting.

It is interesting to see the attitude of people on here to the potential exodus from Arsenal. Few people seem to see the fact that key players like Hleb and Adebeyor being linked with moves away is a big problem and concentrate on the prices they might receive. Whereas links to our better players are invariably greeted with threads decrying the fact we are a selling club unless everyone from the player to the Anfield tea lady come out with a statement that they are staying.

If I was Wenger I would be very worried about the coming season. Flamini has left and was a key cog that made the most of his other players. After two seasons adapting Hleb, now and exceptional PL player, may leave and teams are eyeing his most proven goalscorer. Added to the fact Rosicky is injured in all likelihood for the start of the season.

He is a splendid manager and a genius at developing players but I really think he has a huge job on his hands to reinforce his current team.

True, but he seems to manage to maintain a top level despite selling players. Why they want to leave is interesting though.

Very good at spotting players, crap at keeping them.

But he has bought some turkeys, some of the defenders he has bought have been comical

Is all this exodus stuff at arsenal to do with their wage structure... seem to remember hearing they're very strict on it, even thought I spotted something about David Villa not lookin at them as possibility due to this.

Does anyone know anymore on this... do they pay less than the other 3 of the top 4 maybe?

I'm afraid that no matter how hard we try or how ever many sides we get into the latter stages of the Champ's league, most players from Europe & South America etc see Spain & Italy as the place to be.

Even if they come over to the prem, lots of them once they've made a name for themselves are easily tempted away from our top clubs to the top clubs in Italy/Spain. It's where they've been brought up to believe the best football is played, where the Biggest Clubs are.

THere was an interview with him where he said that the wage structure was strict and less than the rest of the top 4 due to the debt to build the stadium. Not wanting to sacrafice the long term future etc etc.

It was widely reported that Flamini left to get more money.

They also won't give 30 year olds any more than a one year contract which is probably why they lost a lot of the old timers who have since gone on and played for many more seasons.

He keeps Arsenal ticking over so they play good football, are never far off, and can pay off debts without selling out to a foreign consortium.

He's looking after their future, not just their today and they're very lucky to have him.

                        I think he's a genius.

He managed to get Arsenal to win the league when they were competing with the SCUM who were spending money like it was going out of date.

Only modern day manager to go a league season without a defeat.

Takes some doing that and he knows how the game should be played.

My favourite non-LFC manager, bags of respect for him

I agree with all of that Red Chilli. He also manages to conduct much of his transfer activity "under the radar". There are none of the "see-how-much-money-you-can-squeeze-out-of-us" dramas like we have to endure (though that's not necessarily a managerial comment, Arsenal are a better-run football club than we are).
At the same time, we would be screaming bloody murder if Liverpool started selling off their seemingly best players like Arsenal have been happy doing.
I'm playing all the right notes. Not necessarily in the right order. I'll give you that, sunshine.

Absolutely, but far from being infallible though. A genius who has not won a trophy for 3 seasons but is still given the total backing of his entire club including players.

The way he changed the whole philosophy of that club from hoof the ball to what it is now is amazing and he has my utmost respect in that regard.

Amazing man - I always maintain that we should have got him before he got settled at Highbury many years ago.

A few leaks lately though about his man management skills of the non french players. Plus quite a few do want out. Didn't some one mention Walcott and Fabregas wanting to leave because of him recently ?
