Chelsea Football Club can confirm it has received an official approach from Internazionale to discuss the possible transfer of Frank Lampard. Contrary to reports no financial offer was made.

Chelsea FC has informed Inter this morning (Tuesday, July 8) that we will not enter into any discussions regarding the transfer of Frank Lampard.

New Chelsea manager Luiz Felipe Scolari insists Frank Lampard has told him he wants to remain at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have rejected an official approach from Inter Milan to discuss the transfer of the England midfielder.

But after meeting Lampard the Brazilian told Chelsea TV there is no chance of the 30-year-old joining ex-Blues boss Jose Mourinho at the Italian club.

"I was very happy because I asked if he wants to stay and he said 'yes, I will stay at Chelsea'," said Scolari.

I think that is a very simplistic way of looking at it. He is a world class player of a limited role. That role suits only certain team setups and he would only go to a top team and probably none of the rest of the PL top four if he left Chelsea which does limit the number of options for him. However the options who have had interest in him before or do now all have money (such as Inter and Barca).

I think peoples rating of Lampard is coloured by their hatred of Chelsea and the fact that the media constantly go on and on about him. He may well be over hyped but Chelsea have been very successful in recent years and he is no small part of that.
