Yeah, but what..no leagues..no cups..no tournaments.. Just a friendly on a saturday morning?
Whereas when i played it was at the same place week in week out up untill 11 a-side, This must of made it easier to pick up young talent.. rather than finding random fields in the middle of nowhere!

I think they don't teams to play any other team. They just want kids to have been coached without playing any football against another team to the age of eight.

i'm stuck in the middle on this, i can see the arguements for it, but from my own experiences i can see the arguments against.

Maybe it depends on the type of team the kids ar eplaying for and the different set ups etc but for me competive competions are very important. Maybe they should develop some kind of league set up were fair play and skill are rewarded - i don't now what but something small and token can go a long way for kids - instead of having man of the match awards - have a few awards for each team where the opposing manager votes for the most skillful player, the best passer, goal of the game etc - at the end of each match each player who wins a caterogary gets a little medal saying The Weeks Most Skilful player for [insert name] and they keep it till the next match were it's up for grabs again.

I remember being in primary school, there was four of us who played for the same under 8 under 9 team and we were the only lads in the year who played for a team - usually in primarys schools, at lunch time you 30 kids running all over place after the same ball. We used to play the 4 of us and some randomer lobbed in goal against like 10-15 other lads(some of them decent players and eventually signed for teams) and we used to ****ing batter them every lunch time! - why? because we were so much further ahead in terms of playing football, we passed, moved, held our positions and just carved them.

Why were that much better - because at training each week we played 40mins of two touch football! - i mantain to this day it's the best form of football to play/learn etc in training and as you are developing. You learn to think quicker, control the ball instantly, keep posseion, learn to pass, move into space etc etc - and thats what we did in the playground we just two touched our way through the 15 lads.

We were competive and challenging for the title, but we were a fair club and everyone enjoye dtho i do have memories of parents getting involved and under tactics and club politics as we got a bit older and were playing in bigger comps etc. Tho there were other teams that were terrible, poaching players, intimading refs and players - nothing like being a little 9 yr old left winger and in the 2nd half your playing down there line and you are just getting ****ing abused by grown men - tho i do remember scoring a ****ing peach of a volley in a tight game and running over to their line and sticking my finger up at them got ****ing booked, i was nearly in tears when i saw the yellow card

          unboymanly conduct ??
"Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United.

"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."

something like that, i remember after the game walkin off the pitch and trying to avoid eye contact with my dad as i thought he'd bollock me for being booked - he was buzzing his tits off, laughing his head, couldn't wait to tell all his mates

i ****ing loved junior football, certianly at the ages of 7 till 11/12 - after that is when it's gets a bit 'nastier', it's more competitive but you come up against some horrible little ****ers - i stopped playing at about 12 and never played for a team again cause i just wasn't enjoying it anymore - until i was 18/19 at uni

I never played for a team again cause i just wasn't good enough - until i was 18/19 at uni and by that stage if you were sober long enuf you could get a game

I think the English could adopt what they have at Barcelona, the La Masia system which has seen Iniesta, Xavi, Pepe, Fabregas, Messi, Dos Santos all graduate from. What it basically is a boarding school however in the evenings you have a couple of hours of training. So not only are you gaining an education which parents might be worried about but also getting the attention of some great coaches every day and also there is that bond between the players. Anyone see how good Iniesta and Xavi link up for Spain and Barcelona? Its almost instinctive.

another thing - something which i have heard loads of european and south american players rave about is Futsal - which in all honesty it pretty much unheard of and rarely if ever played in the UK. From wiki "The emphasis is on improvisation, creativity and technique."
