Well the institution that is John Motson has retired, i'd like to thank him for years of laughter alongside commentry, meant or other, but on a serious note, thank him for saying..when the goal was scored in the Euro Final yesterday...."It's TORRES...TORRES of LIVERPOOL", not Torres of Spain, his country & the side he was representing, but Torres of LIVERPOOL. nice one Motty, a good note to end on.

he had a bit of a nightmare over the last few live games i watched. He kepts calling Senna (spain) Silva, and calling Villa-Silva. I suppose its a hard task to comment on a game, but he managed to do it on quite a few occasions, there where more but i cant remember them!

Made too many mistakes in the last few years - I'm not a fan and glad he's retiring from live matches.

Well i suppose the live games were a bit too much for him of late, as some say he's been making mistakes, but there is no doubt that growing up watching football he has been one of the voices of the game, one of my early football memories you could say.

And his reference to 'Torres of Liverpool' when that goal went in for SPAIN was priceless.

Ps, lets be honest, all commentators make mistakes with the speed of the game these days.
