Basically Mutu can tell them to blow it up there arse. Its FIFA not some judicial body

        ------------------------------------------------------------
FIFA have ordered Adrian Mutu to pay Chelsea £13.68million in compensation after testing positive for cocaine while at Stamford Bridge.

Mutu, 29, failed a drug test in 2004 and was banned for seven months before moving to Juventus and Fiorentina after getting sacked by Chelsea.

Mutu's lawyer, Cristian Sarbu, claimed earlier in the summer that his client was told to pay £9.6million by FIFA and that the Romania striker would be contesting the ruling.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport had ordered FIFA to make a ruling and the matter went to the Dispute Resolution Chamber of the world governing body.

"The club can confirm that it has received the decision from FIFA's Dispute Resolution Chamber (DRC) on the claim made against Adrian Mutu," read a statement from Chelsea.

"Chelsea is delighted with the DRC's decision to award the club £13.68million in compensation."

Mutu was signed in 2003 at the start of Roman Abramovich's era as owner of the club and enjoyed a promising start at Stamford Bridge before his form tailed off.

After his dismissal, Chelsea began proceedings to claim damages from the player bought from Parma.

Their statement added: "This is an important decision for football. Not only did the DRC make us a very significant monetary award, the decision also recognised the damaging effect incidents involving drugs has on football and the responsibilities we all have in this area.

"Chelsea will now be following the process laid out in the DRC's decision to claim the money from Mutu."

Good. Cheeky cunt should've taken his situation more seriously. Hope he has to pay the lot. It might teach footballers to stop behaving like they're above the law.

FIFA are nobodies. They can't force him to pay and everyone knows it. He will take it to the civil courts and it will get slashed to about £500k no doubt

That's a lump sum if ever i saw one, it's gonna hurt, i've heard the phrase.....'Hit them in the pocket' but **** that's a big hit his pocket took.

As has been said above , will he pay, can they force him, he could take it to the civil courts as stated above, get it cut down to size, the figure.

But is there a higher court the Russian could appeal to, he's been backed by the football powers, if that's the figure Chelsea lost on him then why not.

              It's a huge figure though.

While I can see the make an example of him point of view and it shows footballers can't just get away with anything and Chelsea shouldn't lose out because of it, but I would have thought they could have sold him to another club and claimed his wages while he was banned and the difference in the transfer fees.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

**** chelsea. They want £13m because they claim that was his market value before he was sacked.

Sorry who sacked him? The player was banned and he seen out his ban. If anybody should be made an example of its Chelsea for their ridiculous spending. On one hand Blatter and Platini are moaning about the financial muscle clubs like Chelsea have and on the other hand they are backing them in this situation..........

Chelsea should suffer their own consequences. Its them that have been splashing out ridiculous fees for players and paying them and agents stupid money. As a result other clubs are struggling trying to keep up.

Fifa should be making an example out of Chelsea here not Mutu

Think that's a bit naive mate. Chelsea didn't really have much choice but to sack him and I dont remember them being condemned for their actions. Chelsea do pay more for players and slightly more in wages for their top stars but we're not too far behind. There was a time when we broke transfer records too you know

Neither FIFA or Chelsea have the power to make Mutu hand over that amount of cash, in fact he doesn't have to hand over a penny. The power they do have is to give him a lifetime ban from football if he doesn't pay up.

At 29 I suppose it's up to him to decide if it's worth carrying on and losing all that money or just hanging his boots up now. I think this fine will see the retirement of Mutu.
