I think the media have done a job on him and he's not as bad as many think. Friedel is in amazing form and I don't think Lloris was his signing.

The media coverage he gets is similar to what Rafa used to get hence loads of peoples opinion of him. I think (Like Rodgers) once his plan is into place Spurs will be a decent force.

He is a bit of a tosser and I hate that constant tickle in his throat however.

Still think that Bale is an overrated player. He's not that good surely. He was very average today.

Ah and we'll catch Spurs, they aren't that great either.

I think it depends what business they do if any. Bring in another CM and a striker and I think they will be capable of staying 4th.

I don't know, think they'll explode soon. Think they played better football when Harry was there.

Sandro is a massive loss for them. Him and Dembele were an excellent partnership.

They are trying to get Holtby in this month after sandros loss.

Different type of player though isn't he?

Sandro is a beast and dominates physically I don't think that is Holtby's game but I haven't seen much of him tbh.

Schalke 04 have rejected an offer from Tottenham Hotspur to sign midfielder Lewis Holtby before the end of the January transfer window, it has been confirmed.
Manager of the Bundesliga outfit, Horst Heldt, confirmed they had rejected the offer, saying: "Tottenham have made an offer, which was not acceptable, therefore it was rejected.

"The transfer window is still open and Lewis has not become any cheaper."

The Germany Under-21 captain produced another impressive performance for Heldt's side on Friday when he created two goals and scored the decisive fifth in Schalke's thrilling 5-4 home win over Hanover 96.

The 22-year-old later confirmed any potential move is out of his hands, and his eyes are firmly fixed on his future with Schalke.

"I am not going to just p*** off without busting my a*** for the team," Holtby said.

"I will give my all for Schalke until the last second. Everything else must be decided by the clubs."

Maybe a change in formation if they get him early.

Gareth Bale is a better player than Cristiano Ronaldo, says Jeff Stelling

If I was Spurs chairman Daniel Levy I'd be a worried man now because Gareth Bale is playing too well, for both club and country.

We already know that Bale is held in high regard by some of Europe's biggest clubs and recent stellar displays have put him firmly back in the shop window.

His goal in Wales' 2-1 friendly victory over Austria was his 17th in all competitions this season and came swiftly after those two superb strikes in the Premier League, against Norwich and West Brom.

I just worry, from Spurs' point of view, that an offer might come along in the summer that they can't refuse.

I heard Jamie Redknapp say on Super Sunday that Bale is 'absolutely world class', that he's 'as good as Ronaldo'.

What Bale's got that Ronaldo hasn't is incredible strength and power. Ronaldo is quick but when Bale gets up a head of steam, there's no stopping him.

I don't often disagree with Jamie, who has one of the greatest football minds I've ever encountered, but I think it's got to the stage where you can say that Bale is better than Ronaldo because he's simply unplayable.

That's not to denigrate Ronaldo, who has got all the tricks and dynamite in his boots - but so has Bale.

What Bale's got that Ronaldo hasn't is incredible strength and power; Ronaldo is quick but when Bale gets up a head of steam, there's no stopping him.

I'd love to know who the fastest player in the Premier League is if it's not Bale. He's adaptable, too - he can play wide or down the middle. If you want him to do a job defensively, he can do that as well.

Wales fans won't thank me for saying it but it's such a shame that we are unlikely to ever see him play in a major tournament.

It's the 'George Best syndrome' all over again: Bale is one of the best players in the world and as much as I'd love to see him at a World Cup, despite his best efforts, it's not going to happen.

I was in Portugal this week and I saw Ronaldo score against Ecuador and it was a fine goal, but I'm hard pushed to think of another player in Europe (aside from Lionel Messi) who gives you the all-round quality that Bale gives Spurs.

He's the reason why Spurs are where they are now - fourth in the Premier League - and he's the one who could drive them on to a Champions League place, which is the minimum Spurs will need to keep him.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’
