Checked the BBC last night to look for the Arsenal v Chelsea result, and as well as the 0-0 I saw the Sherwood news. DOUBLE WIN!

Horrendous decision to sack AVB when only 6 points from top spot. And appointing Sherwood is one of the funniest things I've seen in a long time.

              What a year it's been

Completely surprised/amused/delighted by this move. Loads of pressure instantly on Sherwood to turn it round. If/when he suffers a couple of defeats, he will be instantly in the papers.

Villas Boas is way better of at home counting his £4.5m severance.

Contracted to summer 2015 absolutely no chance Sherwood will manage them beyond this summer.

AVB was criticised by Levy for falling out with Freund & Adebayor. 2 days into his official reign and we have... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/foo...-Bentaleb.html

Holtby has looked very average & Capoue has had a mare.

Adebayor was gash for a good long while, which led to him being dropped.

My point is that 2 days into his tenure he's made 2 senior professionals play with the reserves.

Yeh i get ya... seems that he's stamping down his authority. Spurs have a very good squad but a lot of their players need to get the finger out. Being put in the ressies is a bit of a wake up call.

Respect to Sherwood if this is true.

ROY HODGSON believes Tim Sherwood is the man responsible for getting him sacked by Blackburn.

The former Rovers manager has spoken for the first time since his dismissal two months ago about the role his ex-captain played in his departure.

Hodgson believes Sherwood was furious when a proposed move to Tottenham fell through earlier in the season.

He feels the player then allowed his unhappiness to spread throughout the club, leading to massive discontent among the players.

Results that had already been poor got worse, and Hodgson was sacked in November after a home defeat by Southampton left them bottom of the Premiership.

Sherwood was interviewed on TV that evening and made very clear that the club's lowly position was the responsibility of the manager.

But now Hodgson has hit back, claiming Sherwood found fault with everything and branding him "selfish".

And with Sherwood again the subject of interest by Spurs, because of a contract dispute, Hodgson re-opened old wounds to slam the player's attitude during his final months at the club.

"One of the major factors in what happened was Sherwood's discontent at not being allowed to go to Tottenham," he speaking on Sky Sports' The Last Word with Jimmy Hill.

"Up until that time, Tim had done a very good job in captaining the team and was also very supportive to myself and the other players - he did a good job behind the scenes.

"He became very disenchanted with the club and everything around the place when he thought the proposed Tottenham move had fallen through.

"Being such an important character in the club, his discontent was able to spread to a lot of other players.

"These people did not have the strength of character, personality or experience to stand up against somebody who was finding fault with most things.

"I don't think anybody should come into a club and, for their own selfish reasons, start saying that certain players should stay or go."

Hodgson has stayed out of football since his Blackburn sacking, apart from some TV work, and has been relaxing in St Moritz.

The Croydon-born boss moved to Ewood Park from Inter Milan in the summer of 1997 after a highly successful spell on the continent.

But despite his experience and a promising first six months, this season saw a dreadful start and rumours of dressing-room tension started to filter out.

Meanwhile, Sherwood last night refused to get embroiled in the row and would only say: "Managers only get sacked for one thing and that's results.

"Other than that I don't want to get involved."

The 29-year-old could be on his way to Spurs for pounds 5m, anyway, after stalling on a new pounds 6m Rovers' deal.

Blackburn chief executive John Williams was confident at the start of the week that Sherwood would agree to a new contract taking him to 2004.

But the two sides are still apart on terms with the midfield star wanting pounds 1m-a-year, plus bonuses, to commit himself long term.

Agent Eric Hall said: "We are getting nowhere and in the interests of the player, the club and their new manager Brian Kidd the best thing is to let him go."
