The Telegraph’s Matt Law delivers a fresh piece of transfer gossip on Tuesday morning involving Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku.

According to the broadsheet, Lukaku, currently on loan at Everton, is at the top of Tottenham’s most-wanted strikers list this summer. the Telegraph report:

Spurs were among a host of clubs interested in Lukaku last summer and chairman Daniel Levy made a cheeky offer to swap Emmanuel Adebayor for the 20-year-old.

Tottenham will make a more serious bid for Lukaku this year and hope to convince Chelsea to allow the player to stay in the Premier League… Spurs would comfortably be able to offer the player an increase to his £40,000-a-week wages.

Manchester United’s Javier Hernández and Queens Park Rangers’ Loïc Rémy, who is well known to Tottenham scout Ian Broomfield, are other options but Lukaku is ahead of them on the wanted list.

Belief that Lukaku will be sold by Chelsea are high, with the Mail recently claiming that Jose Mourinho is said to be so unimpressed with the in-form Belgian striker the Portuguese boss is intent on getting the forward off Chelsea’s books this summer.

According to Rob Shepherd, Mourinho does not want to give the Belgian international striker a new deal as “ bridges have been burned” between the attacker and the coach, and the Chelsea supremo does not rate “Lukaku as a top class striker”.

For the record, Lukaku has scored 27 goals in 35 league appearances for both West Brom and Everton over the past two seasons.

          Worth a 'cheeky' bid?

On the face of it that looks a good record but he never seems to do much in games. He'll score one goal or make one assist and that'll be it. Hardly ever scores more than one.

              Doesn't suit our game anyway.

A lot of Everton fans get frustrated with him. Some been calling him a donkey. His all round play isn't great.

If he came though their academy and scored less than half the goals, they'd be arguing he's better than Messi.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Heard Roberto Martinez refer to him as "Le Rom" on the radio the other day

Martinez is just Mr Positivity - saw today he was raving about John Stones and them having a 'special player on their hands'. A little bit over the top there Roberto

He's the same with every player

I get talking up your own players but he takes it to ridiculous levels
