I'd definitely have Eriksen. He's smart enough that he can play any of the midfield roles but also very creative. Think that would mean the end of naby keita though.

        The end of Keita ?

I, alongwith many others, am still waiting for the start !

Was only reading an opinion piece on him yesterday. FWIW, I'd be surprised to see him still here this time next year, if the status quo continues.

Naby Keita has made just four Liverpool starts since April, partly due to injury, but mainly because he’s not been good enough. Inklings of the form that earned him his move to Anfield have appeared fleetingly, but Jurgen Klopp can only deflect the questions of those querying the poor performances of his £54million acquisition for so long – it’s been too long already.

Great quote from the greatest opinion source on the Internet.

Keita is still 24 while Eriksen is nearly 28. Also, it's not easy to get ahead of the current midfield trio of Gini, Fabinho and Henderson at the moment. Eriksen will probably come in and warm the bench as well.

FWIW....I'm not a huge proponent of the idea of Eriksen coming in, especially for the wages, let alone signing on fee he'd command. Add in a potential lack of relative resale value, even brought in out of contract, and he might not be a name in lights for the economic people.
Well off the pace as well this year....how much of that is due to Spurs or him wanting to run down his contract, I dunno.
That said, he's a dangerous player when on, and has lovely vision, but he's probably looking for a move to the continent at this point anyway.

I guess Naby's name pops up when looking to rejig things in midfield, and to say Naby is on (or close) the bubble is probably fair. Big money move, and I'd suspect 120k a week for the next few years, but up to now, is providing little value for money. Whether its intermittent injuries, lack of adaptation, trust issues or whatever, it's his lack of pushing for his name of the team sheet when his opportunities came that is concerning. He's young, yes, but also needs to start showing why he was chased for so long, otherwise we may need to keep an eye for someone else to take up that spot.
Plenty of games to come this season, especially over the next month or so, so his opportunities should present themselves, hopefully he'll grab them when they come and show us more of that player we hoped we were getting.

Eric the Viking has something our squad doesn't have. He has creativity and an eye for a pass, brilliant at opening up a tight defence. Scores goals and takes a good free kick. I just don't think klopp will sacrifice the graft of the current 3 for more flair.

But if we're looking for improvements in the squad you would be mad to not want him over Keita. At 28 he has at least 4 good years in him. Keita might never come good.

              It's not going to happen.

Eriksen is much like Son, nice idea but neither will happen, age, cost, wages and potential resale value don’t make any sense and the idea of binning Naby for Eriksen is well daft to say the least

Resale should be irrelevant if you've had his best years and he proves his worth.

I agree it won't happen probably for the reasons you mention.

But I don't see why its daft to want an immediate upgrade if it was a possibility. The thought alone isn't daft of taking a proven player over an unknown quantity.

They’re 28 and 29 so arguably their best years are either now or coming to an end in a season or two, it does matter as they’d not be players you’d be building around more supplementing what we already have and would be a short term fix.

I don’t think they’d be obvious upgrades and Keita has more potential to improve which is why he was someone we clearly were desperate to sign. Unknown quantity, dear ****ing lord.

Short of a miraculous turn around I can't see Keita here next season myself. We lost the league by a tiny margin in a near perfect season and won the champs league & are 8 points on top of the league unbeaten in the league this season... all of this without Naby's help. Love to see him doing well as I was waxing lyrical about him to everyone but he has been a massive disappointment and doesn't seem to have the energy or physicality to exist in a Klopp midfield. Certainly a lovely footballer but that is not enough to be a starter at LFC.

Eriksen is a fantastic talent, streets ahead of Keita but he is way too lazy to exist in a Mourinho side. A players likes of Son & Kane who are fantastic players but work their ass off.. will thrive in a Mourinho side imo.

Why you being such a dick. I've given my views, you've countered it. Thats the point of discussion. Keita fof us is unknown, he's done very little. I actually like him and think he's very talented. I just don't see him getting a decent run of games and he just seems to pick up niggling injuries on a regular basis. Would love it if he came good. No witch hunt. Just looking at possibilities in the squad where we can make improvements. There's not many gaps but its foolish to think it can't be done.

As per usual you like to throw out the contrarian view on things, guess it’s from your storytelling background.

Kieta hasn’t had the best injury record with us so far granted however we went in for him big time, buying a year early to secure his signature whilst still playing for RBL. He’ll get his game time this season with us especially with the insane run of games coming up

You've gone weird lately. Used to be one of the best posters on here. Guess we are all getting older, less patience with each other.

                                Fair enough.
