    Cisse to Sunderland on Loan.

Sunderland agree loan deal for Cisse
    Wednesday, August 20, 2008

Sunderland are on the verge of completing the loan signing of Djibril Cisse after reaching an 'agreement in principle' with Marseille over the transfer of the striker.

Cisse's future has been the subject of much speculation all summer, with the France international being linked with a number of Barclays Premier League sides.

But in a statement president Pape Diouf has confirmed the former Liverpool striker is on his way to the Black Cats.

Interesting, I'm sure he's better than what we saw of him.

If he plays regularly he will score a fair few goals, Sunderland played well enough against us last Saturday and the strikers i felt were their weakness so this is a good move for both Sunderland and Cisse.
        We come not to play.

          ex top scorer coming back.

          Cisse heading to Sunderland
by Ben Blackmore, 20 August 2008
Marseille have revealed Djibril Cisse is close to agreeing a shock season-long loan move to Sunderland.

The former Liverpool star has struggled to settle back into life in France, despite netting 16 league goals last season.

Cisse has never hidden his desire to return to The Premier League, and he was heavily linked to Blackburn and West Ham during the summer.

However, Roy Keane has a shortage of strikers as Kenwyne Jones and Martyn Waghorn nurse injuries, while Michael Chopra serves a suspension.

Cisse’s one-dimensional style never suited Rafa Benitez’s regime at Anfield, but he showed he knew where the net was during his time on Merseyside and now it appears he will pull on the red and white of Sunderland.

"An agreement in principle has been reached between OM and Sunderland for the loan of Djibril Cisse to the English club until the end of the season," Marseille president Pape Diouf told the club’s official website.

"Some details still need to be sorted out ahead of the confirmation of the loan."

top scorer a few years in the french league. bad injuries hampered his development and has been unsettled at marseille since then. could be just the sort of raw material that rafa likes to work on.

If he stays injury-free he will do well for them, I still reckon he is a good player and will certainly give sunderland some alternative up front.

Look forward to seeing him again in the PL, always had a soft spot for the lad...

It's a good signing for Sunderland. He has the potential to do really well for them and if he flops it's pretty much risk free as he'll be shipped back to Marseille.

                  Hope he does well.

Sunderland looked quick on the counter-attack against us last week, Cisse's pace could give Sunderland a boost.

should be a good signing for them. he'll score goals if he's given the playing time.

Diouf and Cisse, I think they will be a pure comedy striking duo, pair of thickos

Suppose Sunderland have nothing to lose, they do desperately need someone who can find the back of the net.
