Which is one reason why comparing Net spend between Rafa and Houllier is a white elephant. If you translated the amount spent on transfers into a percentage of income then I'm sure the figures would be more on a par.

Plus net spend doesn't take circumstances into consideration, like what competition each manager faced in the league in each of their times in charge.

The challenge faced by Rafa is far in excess of what Houllier faced. imo,
