IMO club should always come before country, whichever club you play for. The club are the ones that pay your wages and if it wasn't for them you wouldn't have the chance to play for your country. There's nothing wrong with being proud of playing for your country and wanting to do well, but that was a very foolish thing to say
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
And in actual fact, he made it abundantly clear he didn't want to stay at Villa whereas he's just broken into the England side as a regular so maybe he is more focussed with England anyway.
Was there any point in that, or are you just trying to bait me?
The majority of Premiership footballers are selfish, you almost have to be to succeed these days.

Which is what I've been trying to say Matt. Not sure why people can't really see that. It was an England press conference after all.
mainly because these people have blinkers on. They are firmly entrenched in a negative state of mind.
Even bringing Owen (who despite being a prick and stringing us along, won us countless amounts of games) into the equation now. He hasn't played a game for us in over 4 years......let bygones be bygones FFS

May seem a daft question but do they get paid for playing for their country and if so how much?
Question two. Is Barry in the last year of his contract and if he is are Villa panicking? I might have got that wrong but thought he only had a year to run.
