Well he's done more than Guthrie did.

And what has Lucas done exactly?

And when was Guthrie given the chance.

I dont think either are good enough for us really, happy to give lucas another season though

Lucas also became the youngest player to ever to receive Placar magazine's Bola de Ouro (Golden Ball), given to the best player in the Campeonato Brasileiro — an honour previously won by the likes of Zico, Falcao, Careca, Alex, Romario, Kaká and Tevez.[2]

why play guthrie if they dont think he is good enough

lucas has had a slagging off a few on here
its like he,s a brazilian JP

lucas won us the derby away last year at goodison, and if it wasn't for that cheating cunt neville(was it?) making one hell of a handball save on the line, he would have become an instant hero.

I'm a fan of lucas, he's settling in still - he is still young and adapting - it must be difficult to move from somewhere like brazil at a young age to a foreign country like liverpool , but he has the ability and potential to be a useful player for us. I think his problem is him being brazilian so everyone wants him to be like ronaldinho, kaka, pele etc etc - if he was english, a scouser, everyone would ****ing love him imo!

Streets ahead of guthrie, who i like, and wouold have been nice to him develop, tho sadly the way football has turned danny guthrie would only ever be a bench player at best - behind the likes of gerrard, alonso, mascherano and lucas and on par with plessis in the pecking order. How old is guthrie, 24? He wants to play premiership football every week which is great to see and the move to a club like newcatsle will be great for him. He will do well and have a decent career but i serious;y doubt we will ever regret selling him and i would be shocked if he ever went on to be a top player, play for england etc.

with regards the tackle - it's a bad one in terms of disclipine etc but as others have said, not as bad as some of the dangerous stud showing flying into tackles u see.
i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

I really like Lucas but worry he won't get the games he needs with us.

And neither should he with Mascherano and Alonso in the kind of form they showed on Saturday. The lad may have talent (although I remain to be convinced he is anything other than a mid-range player) but there is a pecking order and he will do well to work his way up it.

It's being reported on the BBC website that Fagan has broken his leg and will be out for three months.

Possibly a crack, not a clean break...painful to walk on, but you probably think it's the effect of the kick, not a break??

Hull City striker Craig Fagan has suffered a broken leg, reports BBC Radio Humberside.

Fagan was the victim of an horrific tackle by Newcastle's Danny Guthrie in Hull's 2-1 win on Saturday, although he got up on his feet after the incident.

But Hull boss Phil Brown said scans after the game had revealed a fracture to Fagan's leg.

Guthrie was red carded after running several yards to scythe Fagan down as he shielded the ball by the touchline.

Fagan rejoined Hull City in a £750,000 move from Derby County in July, signed a three-year deal at the KC Stadium.

The striker had spent the end of last season on loan at Hull, helping to fire them to the Premier League.

The 25-year-old initially left Hull for Derby for the same £750,000 fee in January 2007, but only scored twice in 46 matches.

Fagan played 11 times for the Tigers last season, including the play-off final victory over Bristol City.

Puts some of the comments earlier in the thread in some perspective.

Was out last night and so only just watched MOTD. Having heard a lot about this, I was expecting a real horror-show leg-breaker.

                          What a disappointment.

It was nowhere near as bad as it's been made out. A red card yeah but he just booted him. So what. Those two-footed leg breakers are in a different league to just booting someone.

Brilliant news. Now maybe it'll be a wake up call for the little cunt.

While I've no sympathy for Fagan seeing as how he's come across as a right prick, and the fact that he's the sort who asks for trouble out on the pitch............................I think this is one case where the punishment should fit the crime..
I'm not suggesting that every long-term injury should result in long bans for players who committed the foul, but in cases of pre-meditated attacks such as this, a 3 month ban (or until Fagan is fit) for Guthrie would be a very effective measure..
Difficult to regulate this approach I grant you, but certain tackles over the last couple of seasons have highlighted the need for tougher actions against offenders..
