    Newcastle - Now Thats A Result !

Following Mike Ashley's statement declaring his intent to sell NUFC after coordinated supporters mass protests should we as Liverpool Football Club supporter's be taking equally vociferous action?
I will always blame Moores and Parry.

Don't think that the analogy holds up. Ashley cares about Newcastle G&H couldn't give a **** about us as anything but an investment.

But surely the point stands - unpopular owner(s) forced out ?

He's wanted out for months anyway, he's just using the protest as a way to arselick the supporters and look after himself.

            Are you sure?

I thought he went to his first game after he bought the club. It always looked to me that his replica-shirt, beer-swilling, man of the people persona was just that - an act.
            Oh I don't know.

Heard one of the Newcastle supporters reps on the TV yesterday and a really well spoken guy with articulate points not only about Newcastle but the state of the Premiership generally regarding ticket prices and trillionaire ownership etc.

He specifically referred to Liverpool fans and wished "them" luck with their campaign and protests !

No I'm not but I got the impression that he was a **** but in the club for the right reasons.

As to Lisburn Reds point - unless we stop bringing in cash to the club how do we force them out? They live far away and if they view the club as an investment then they have no reason to leave just because the fans dislike them. I would like protests to work but I just don't see why they would. The only thing that will persuade them to go is a huge profit in a takeover by DIC or someone else.

Don't think he's exactly arse licking, his statement said he's selling because he can't even go to watch a football match with his family and children without being told by Police he would likely be assaulted, that was the last straw.

Not exactly an arse licking statement though imo, more a damning one.

Surely its still more complex than that no matter how correct you are with your points ?? Wasn't GG at the game yesterday sitting in the box and in everyway possible without damaging the team couldn't he have got the message across in the strongest of terms forcing him away? You are right as well about the financial motivation of the two of them so why aren't we abandoning the club shop and other merchandise streams en masse and forcing their hand before other opportunities pass us by ?

Ashley has only made 1 mistake. The second he bought Newcastle he should have made his intentions clear about running a tight ship financially based around 'Arsenal's model' and also made the club structure clear

Judging from his statement he seems to be a genuine footy fan who has personally invested more money than the Newcastle fans deserve and some of his signings this summer have not been bad and he could have been a good thing for newcastle. Selling Milner for £12m was an easy decision, ridiculous fee for an average player

Personally I'm not doing it as I think it is a bit cutting your nose off to spite your face and I feel no particular love for DIC either. They may well turn out to be great for us but at the minute I know **** all about how they would run the club - only that they are happy to drag the name of the club through the tabloid gutter along with our current incumbent ****wits.

GG was at the game but it hardly seems like a passion I suspect he must have had some business to do in the country. Tickets to a big game would have been a good freebie for staff etc. any way.

Everyone has to make their mind up as to the best course of action as regards to the owners. I simply don't hold out much hope that protests will do anything.

fair play to the guy. just read the whole statement.

he said.. you dont need to protest. if you want me out i'll go

                          well impressed by that statement

Of course it's arselicking, he's giving the "best fans in the world" crap and basically begging them not to hurt him. He sounds like a ****. He's wanted out for ages, why is he suddenly saying so now?
