He should have done a bit of prep before going in, i.e. "Simon Bird..You're a c*nt and this is why" and then thrown his article in his face.

Kinear claimed the article was wrong, and Bird denied it because his copy didn't say explicitly that Kinear knew the players had the Monday off (although he made sure it was inferred). The article, including the headline was pretty misleading and the obvious person to blame is the guy with his name at the top.
