    Ziege only caretaker for Monchengladbach

    October 6, 2008 [ESPN Europe]

Borussia Monchengladbach's caretaker coach Christian Ziege will not be given the position on a full-time basis, according to club president Rolf Konigs.

Ziege was put in temporary charge of the first team on Sunday after Jos Luhukay was sacked following a dismal start to the Bundesliga campaign.

"We know he is interested in the coaching job, but we agree the time is not right for that," Konigs said of Ziege.

Ziege does not yet have his official coaching badges and recently pulled out of a course to obtain them to concentrate on his job at 'Gladbach, who parted company with Luhukay after five consecutive defeats.

However, Ziege's stint at the helm could drag on for a while yet, with no firm favourites in line to replace Luhukay on a permanent basis.

"I will do it for as long as we have not found a new coach," said the former Germany international.

"It would be preferable if we could do that as soon as possible, but we will not rush into anything. It is not something which will happen overnight."

Former Schalke coach Mirko Slomka emerged as an early candidate for the job but he has since ruled himself out of contention and given his backing to Ziege.

"That is not an issue for me," Slomka told the Rheinische Post. "Ziege is a good man and it obviously depends on success to determine how long he stays.

    "Monchengladbach have not called me."
"The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

We should try get Marko Marin before some other club gets him.

He is going to be a top class winger

"Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United.

"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."
