When does the start of the season officially end?

Quite famously Spurs are enduring their worst start of the season since 1912 or something, and we are enjoying the best one since the 90s apparently.

But my question is this. When does the start of the season end? At what point does it stop being measured? You get these stats trotted out from game 2 until game 15 (or more) it seems.

I remember thinking the same last year when one week some journo would say it was our worst start to a season in 5 years, then the next week it would be the best start in 20 years?

    Yes I'm bored.
    Oh I don't know.

It's hard to tell these days but maybe once the amount of games played hits double figures? It's nearly the second week of October though so it's hard to say we are at the start of the season I suppose.

Of course in the old days they didn't print the league table until about 8 games had been played, but then it was all fields round here then and you could get the Beano and a bag of crisps for 20p, jumpers for goalposts etc etc etc.....

Obviously it is quite arbitary but I think 10 games is about right. It's more that by then generally the table has started to take shape. Before then even relatively small runs of form affect things too much (currently 7 games in Hull are in 3rd for example). About all that is clear at the minute is that none of the teams are a Derby-esque car crash

And despite that they also had more than double the points.

There's a difference though. It was clear that nothing Derby did would improve them. Spurs have some decent players, certainly a better team than their points would suggest. they are likely to dig out from the bottom, and Derby were never going to do that.

Quite true, but that doesn't mean we can't enjoy it for now

"Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United.

"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."

Just hoping Stifflers doesn't read this thread. Much as I'm enjoying it have a soft spot for someone with the guts to join here from another team, openly an honestly rather than WUM.

Poor *******. We should start a charity foundation for him. Everyone kicks in a couple of quid until we have enough to bribe a ref to get them a win.
