First off i must say i find him a bit of a tosser at times. However i do have respect for him. Suffered with his weight as he broke into the west ham team when he was 18/19, the 'fat frank' nickname has stuck right throughout his career, even though we all know he isn't in any way fat now.
Ok it's hardly a big thing for a footballer to overcome but when you look at it he's improved a hell of alot over the years on and off the pitch. He's endured years of abuse from West Ham fans after his move to Chelsea, his father a West Ham legend has been on the receiving end of it too. He also bounced back after the death off his mother some months ago.
Ok, he plays for Chelsea and all the rest but i don't think you'll find many stronger characters in the game tbh.

No, I certainly don't think Gerrard's comments were in any way appropriate, suitable or becoming of a Liverpool captain. Marky, you've been on Liverpool boards long enough to know that not all of Gerrard's actions are lauded as if he is the Messiah, and that he is not beyond criticism for some of the things he says or does. Besides Gerrard's behaviour doesn't make Lampard's actions any more acceptable does it?

Not sure how "honest" or "fair" he is if he's trying to tap up players (this is a rule breach no?) and breaks fellow pros' legs with reckless challenges.

I have to say Marky I don't really get your thread, you seem to be giving him respect solely for ignoring and overcoming "fat" chants. I admit he did show an impressive measure of integrity, bravery and courage to overcome such hardship and difficult circumstances. I applaud him.
