Six England players are among the 21 Premier League footballers nominated for the FIFPro World XI Players Awards.
John Terry, Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole are among eight Chelsea nominees, while Steven Gerrard is one of three Liverpool players short-listed.
Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand make up the England contingent in the seven-strong Manchester United line-up.
United's Cristiano Ronaldo is favourite to win the Player of the Year award after a scintillating 2007/08 season.
The Portuguese winger scored 41 goals and won a host of individual awards as he helped the Old Trafford club to a Premier League and Champions League double.
Arsenal's Gael Clichy and Cesc Fabregas are included, while Celtic's Artur Boruc is also among the 55 candidates.
