FA charge AF with improper conduct

Sir Alex Ferguson has been charged with improper conduct by the Football Association after his actions after Saturday's win over Hull.

The charge relates to Saturday's encounter at Old Trafford when Ferguson marched onto the field immediately after his side's 4-3 win to remonstrate with referee Mike Dean.

A clearly annoyed Ferguson offered Dean a few choice words before heading to the home dressing room. He has been given until November 19 to respond.

Ferguson was thought to be upset that Dean, having already booked Michael Turner, did not send the Tigers defender off when he up-ended Michael Carrick in the second half.

At the time, with United 4-1 up, the decision would have seen the Red Devils almost certainly saunter to victory.

To compound the matter, Dean then awarded Hull a penalty for Rio Ferdinand's innocuous-looking challenge on Bernard Mendy.

As the game went on, United's players got increasingly irritated, with Sky television pundit Paul Merson claiming Wayne Rooney should have been sent off for his twin challenges on George Boateng and Andy Dawson when he was only booked.

Although Ferguson has a largely impressive disciplinary record over his 22 years at Old Trafford, the Scot has been in trouble recently.

Twice last season he got involved in spats after matches with Portsmouth.

At Fratton Park, he was furious that Steve Bennett sent off Cristiano Ronaldo but he went further after the FA Cup tie at Old Trafford in March, labelling Martin Atkinson "a disgrace".

On that occasion an improper conduct charge was not proven. However, he did serve a two-match touchline ban and was handed a £5,000 fine for a finger-jabbing rant at Mark Clattenburg after a defeat at Bolton when Patrice Evra was subjected to a particularly nasty challenge by Kevin Davies.

Probably get away with it again...

I hope this is just one time too many. It is getting quite momotinous now, he is sounding off after every game.

He is clearly going senile, you only have to see how he is sounding off at every swinging dick in the game to see that.

IMO he has lost the plot and it is all downhill for him from this point in time

            But I didn't do anything
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Ahh, following his comments on General Franco and Real Madrid, the Spanish press have now nicknamed Fergie, Senile Alex Ferguson. Quite funny.

Glasshouses and bricks for Fergie. That sort of thing.
