      Because at £1m he is a good business acquisition. We can make a profit when we decide to sell him on.

      Insua looks quite poor defensively and considering Aurelio is injured alot it was too risky a situation not to sign Dossena. You must be crazy to think we didn't need a new proven left-back to replace Riise

      Lucas was the Brazil under 20 captain and looked like one of the best prospects in Brazil. He still has the potential to become a class act. Plesis is purely a defensibe player

      You know fine well that Rafa tried to sell Pennant to Blackburn and Stoke but he refused to leave. El Zhar has been introduced into the first team slowly and has played minutes

      i don't agree that 99% of our 1st team are world class. we really need to start to promote the reserves instead of buying squad fillers.
      Reserves get promoted if they are good enough. If Rafa had been taking risks by playing players who were not ready in the first team then we would not be top of the league right now and you would calling for his head.

      Liverpool are top. Arsenal are 4th and have lost to Fulham, Hull and Stoke!!!

        well half of these players train for the first team and don't play for the first team. Reserve champion means dick, these players are more ready thanour players and are much further in the development. Piet Hamberg the technical manager of the academy has said in in interview that winning is secondary at the academy reserve level, titles mean very little all that matters is how they play and that they'll be ready for the first team. They rather want to loose playing their football than win playing ugly, as they have to be ready to step up to the first team where that kind of football is played.

        any talk off holding up medals for reserve league is bollocks. These kids are miles ahead of ours.

            According to the BBC, Arsenal "thrashed" Wigan. Maybe we "thrashed" West Brom on Saturday or does 3-0 only count as a "thrashing" when it's done by Professor Yaffle's young boys?
