    argie free kick spray

The Argentine Football Association is to introduce an aerosol spray to stop defenders creeping closer to the ball during a free-kick.

From next year, referees will use the spray in first division matches.

Referees will mark a temporary white line 9.15 metres (10 yards) from the ball, which defenders cannot cross. The spray will disappear 30 seconds later.

Pablo Silva, who invented the spray, got the idea when he failed to score with a free-kick at an amateur match.

"In the 88th minute, we were losing 1-0 and won a free-kick on the edge of the area. When I took the kick, the wall was three metres away," he told Reuters earlier this year.

"The referee didn't book anyone and didn't do anything," he said.

"We lost the game, and driving home later, with a mixture of anger and bitterness, I thought that we must invent something to stop this."

The spray has been given a trial in second division matches and a similar spray has been used in some competitions in Brazil.

There are lots of ways to build on this idea.
Had some pepperspray ingredients in it and whenever someone harasses the ref they get a little spray.
So the racle is somewhere between a yellow and a red card. A yellow and some spray it is.
Faking an injury? You`re not faking when you get sprayed.

I think this is the future.

Actually like this idea one of my biggest frustrations is the lack of enforcement over encroachment at Free Kicks.

It's puzzled me for years why attackers don't force the ref to do something regarding this problem by simply refusing to take the kick. What is worse than seeing your team forced to take a kick in a dangerous situation only for it to be blocked by a defender who's literally got himself to within 5 yards of the ball. It's ****in' madness IMO. You often see refs pace out ten yards and get the wall back only for them to shuffle two yards back immediately.
Why doesn't a ref have the balls to book the ****in' lot of them. I honestly beleive refs could make things a lot easier for themselves if they grew a set and reffed a bit more aggressively. The thing is is that I feel most of the refs are interested in being "mates" with the stars. You often see them laughing and chatting away saying "stevie this" and "gary that". I think refs should be made to keep the chat to an absolute minimum. They are in charge of a serious game these days and shouldn't even have to consider explaining a decision to a player. He should just tell them to **** off.
I have one word to offer - honesty. I couldn't be devious if I tried. Joe Fagan.

This should do the trick. Instant sending off for encroachment

jesus - i was humourously going to suggest pepper spray but this is surely the realistic highest the ante can be raised to.

yup same here, the amount of times you see walls just pushing foward as soon as the ref has his back turned.
Hope this one does get picked up by fifa
