He dropped down to the championship with Cardiff then got offered a chance back in the Prem with Blackburn which he would've been silly to turn down but has now been released and is apparently talking to Grimsby about a player coach role. I don't see any issue or problem there at all and certainly no greed or whoring.

I think he should have looked at that sort of level (and role) before now. I can't blame him for trying to get back to where he was and the 'heavyweight boxer' analogy used by elvoz does seem appropriate. I think it would have been sensible for him to have rejected Blackburn but it is perfectly understandable why he would have wanted one last go at it.
