Did anyone see him receive his "hero's" welcome at WHL?
I can't quite put my finger on the reason(s) why I dislike him so, but CUNT!
He's shown no loyalty to any club he's been at, starting with the team tha gave him his chance when he was a young lad - Charlton.
He strikes me a cocky little ****.
Alot of people compared him to Ian Wright when he first broke through at West Ham, he's not fit to lace his boots.

been reported today that the two clubs have yet to agree a deal for defoe even though he was paraded at WHL the other night
unbelieveble
and to make it worse, defoe has asked portsmouth to pay him a 700k loyality bonus!!! His agent has stated that defoe never asked to leave and is being sold by portsmouth against his wishes

I actually quite like defoe, always thought he has looked a good 'striker' but if thats his goal scoring record i'm quite shocked. I knew he was never prolific but thought he had scored more than that - a few years ago he always looked sharp, and i think he has good technique when shooting and seems to be a decent 'natural finisher' - Never a superstar but outside the top four he would probably be getting a game for every other team in the league.......that said though i had never realised his goalscoring average was so low.
same here mate, thought he had a lot of promise as a youngster but am a bit taken back by the scoring stats as well, that is very poor for him.
Spurs have spunked a lot on strikers and have come no where close to replacing Berbatov and Keane

His scoring stats are distorted by the fact that he has only come off the bench for short periods of time, for about 60 odd of those appearances.
I'm not sure that they are that unrepresentative for the following reason - while second half sub appearances mean less pitch time (obviously) the last 15 minutes I'm fairly sure is when a disproportionate amount of goals are scored. It seems reasonable as such to assume that a 'fresher' striker coming on against tired defenders might score a disproportionate number of goals per minute as a second half substitute. I think given the overall number of games he has played his stats are probably fairly representative (and actually they are better than I would have expected).

How many average strikers have a record of around 80 goals in 140 starts?
Depends on what level they play at. Playing for West Ham, Spurs, Bournemouth and Portsmouth is not the same as playing at Liverpool for example.
Nor does it give an indication of who he scored against and the situation.
He is average and a mid table player and as a team player he is awful.

Does it matter who he scores against, really? For the most part, they'll be the same league opposition that everyone else scores against.
As for the level he's playing at, it's Premier League. What more do you want?
Team player he's probably not great at being, but he's a goalscorer, pure and simple.
