    Uefa have rejected Real’s request to register both Lassana Diarra and Klaas Jan Huntelaar to play in the Champions League.

    The regulations state that only one player who has already played in Europe this season can be registered, but the La Liga champions appealed claiming they had a ‘different interpretation’ of the rule, and Uefa’s disciplinary committee have now rejected their request.

    Dutch striker Huntelaar and Diarra played in the Uefa Cup for Ajax and Portsmouth respectively prior to moving to Madrid on January 1.

    Part of a Uefa statement read: “The European body confirms that this was rejected in accordance with article 17.8 in the competition regulations which states that only one player who has played Uefa club competition matches for another competing club in the current season may exceptionally be registered. Any appeal to this decision will be heard next week.”

    Real are likely to take their case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

      Cheers for that mate. Lets hope the Court of Arbitration throw their case out, rules are rules.

        Hmmm, but Platini is the President of UEFA, and you know how much he arse-kisses Real.

            If they lose the hearing, they should be stopped from registering either of them in my opinion. The problem is that Calderon is to UEFA what Whisky-Nose is to the FA. When they bark, the relevant authority listens. And its that that really concerns me as much as Platini disliking us.

              IIRC when the list was submitted they released a statement saying something along the lines of the wording of the UEFA rules are mildly ambiguous, if you try hard enough to interpret them as meaning that they are designed to stop you adding players from other teams in the same UEFA competition (i.e. the CL). I suspect that you are right and they will be laughed out of court.

                  sepp blatter the fifa boss is a real madrid honourary president and has influences in uefa aswell, enough said
