Wenger drops hints over Arshavin deal

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has hinted that negotiations aimed at bringing Zenit St Petersburg forward Andrei Arshavin to the club are progressing well.

Arshavin has been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium this month and it was reported earlier this week that talks had begun over the transfer of the Russian forward, who could cost up to £20million.

"We do not want to talk too much about who we want to buy," Wenger told Arsenal TV online. "At the moment I cannot give you any good news but in this job no news is good news. Nothing has fallen through. We are on alert in the transfer market."

so much excitement about him in the summer,
now i dont think he is what they need, but do you think he will make it here?

    He's not what they need.

They two/three strong, experienced, quality footballers to go through the spine of their side.

Alonso would have been perfect for them. *smug*

Exactly. Wenger can have Arshavin but it won't fix Arsenal. All flair and no muscle. He might as well promote the Arsenal ladies team

They need a Carragher, Vidic, Terry, Laursen type centre back, willing to throw their body in the way of anything at all.

also, Zenit want the 20mill paid in one fee.
Arshavin is a decent player, but how has been playing since the Euros?
also was last season a flash in the pan, even his manager said that he has talent but done **** all with it at 27.

looks to have settled in well and that £15m punt looks well worth it judging by his impact already and what is to come.
