Hmm. Not sure if this is such a good thing for those amongst us who hope they will dump the Scum out of the CL.

well it is just the one game, so it probably wont be the crisis we hope for Maureen.
Guess that is the way with him, people are just waiting to jump on his case when he loses once, just the hig standards he has set and also the the result of pissing so many people off.

The Scudetto race is wide open after Inter were thrashed 3-1 by local rivals Atalanta!
                        Atalanta 3 - 1 Inter
                        Floccari 18 (A), Doni 28, 33 (A), Ibrahimovic 92 (I)

The lead at the top of the table was cut to four points and a midweek Coppa Italia win over 10-man Genoa had to go to extra time, so there were problems in the Nerazzurri camp. Mario Balotelli, Amantino Mancini and Ricardo Quaresma were dropped with Sulley Ali Muntari suspended, Marco Materazzi and Patrick Vieira injured and Walter Samuel suffering from flu. Atalanta were also struggling with one point from their last three games.

The last home win in this local derby was in 1994, followed by four draws (all 1-1) and six defeats.

Atalanta took the initiative early on as the rain beat down on the Stadio Azzurri d'Italia, Cristiano Doni turning Ivan Cordoba to fire just wide of the near post and then Sergio Floccari skimming the woodwork after committing Nicolas Burdisso.

Inter were playing in their all-white away strip and fell behind after 18 minutes. Doni knocked down the long Tomas Manfredini free kick and Floccari spun round on the spot to blaze a precise first-time shot low into the near corner.

It was so nearly 2-0 moments later with Jaime Valdes shaving a coat of paint off the woodwork from the edge of the box. Floccari then turned between Cordoba and Burdisso, his shot caught by Julio Cesar.

Inter's response was negligible and it was no surprise when Atalanta doubled their lead.

Doni's free kick struck Ibrahimovic in the wall - as he raised his hand to protect his face - and it ricocheted past a stranded Julio Cesar.

The Nerazzurri were playing terribly and Jose Mourinho made an immediate change, introducing striker Victor Obinna for Cristian Chivu and switching to a trident attack with Hernan Crespo out wide on the right.

It did not seem to work, as Atalanta made it 3-0! A Valdes cross found Doni for a free header from seven yards, as he popped up between the static central defenders. This is the first time in Serie A this season that Inter have conceded three goals in a single game, although they did draw 3-3 in the Champions League away to Anorthosis.

The Nerazzurri were shaken and tried to fight back with their first real chances of the game, but Crespo drilled wide from a tricky position. Ibrahimovic was booked for dissent after the half-time whistle and he will be suspended for next week's game with Sampdoria.

Mourinho introduced Adriano and Luis Figo for Crespo and Maxwell, moving Javier Zanetti into the left-back position. Adriano's overhead kick was high in the opening 30 seconds, but Julio Cesar also had to block a Ferreira Pinto angled drive and saw Tiberio Guarente's snapshot whistle wide.

Only the woodwork saved Inter from going 4-0 down after 55 minutes! Julio Cesar spilled a Ferreira Pinto effort and Diego De Ascentis smacked the follow-up against the post from point-blank range.

Doni's angled drive was deflected inches past the upright, while Ibrahimovic's finish created by Adriano was too weak to trouble Coppola.

The second half brought barely any opportunities for the Nerazzurri, who could not muster a fightback. Obinna had the only real chance when he pounced on a defensive error, but ballooned over an open goal.

To add insult to injury, Christian Vieri came on against his old club in the final minutes. Ibrahimovic did get one back in stoppages, bundling a deflected corner over the line from point-blank range.
Atalanta: Coppola; Talamonti, Manfredini, Bellini (Rivalta 84), Garics, Guarente, Valdes (De Ascentis 50), Padoin, Floccari (Vieri 89), Doni, Ferreira Pinto

Inter: Julio Cesar; Maicon, Cordoba, Burdisso, Maxwell (Figo 46); Zanetti, Chivu (Obinna 29), Cambiasso; Stankovic; Ibrahimovic, Crespo (Adriano 46)

                        Ref: Rizzoli

He had been lining up the sub since they went 1-0 down and he was about to make the change but Atalanta scored a 2nd before he managed to get the player on.

Don't understand why he keeps playing Crespo though, he is well passed his best and struggles alot now

Because Adriano's attitude (and breath) stinks.
