        They have apparently also bought De Jong for 18m when he had a clause in his contract allowing him to leave for 1.8m in the summer. Maybe money is no object, but they're just being silly.

          The Bellamy fee...we wanted shot, so we sold him at below his market value. West ham want to keep him, so City had to prise him away by making a bid too good to turn down. Supply and demand.

              Here's the problem with having a loaded backer. Everyone knows you have money and it results in over-inflated purchases.

                I guess because it was clear we wanted rid of him, the price we got could have been less than he was worth, as no one will pay top dollar for someone who the selling club wants rid of, while if the club are reluctant to sell (like West Ham) that will force the price up above the players value.
