Fifa team of the year 2008

Fans have voted and team of the year 2008 looks like this:

    ---------------------Iker Casillas.-----------------------

    Sergio Ramos----John Terry----Carles Puyol----Phillip Lahm

    Steven Gerrard----Kaka---------Xavi--------Franck Ribery

    -----------------Ronaldo------------Messi---------------

So a team without any real strikers, a bit of a surprise... I have tried and set them up in a formation out of the names...

Gerrard our only contribution, which is properly fair enough. Only Torres could otherwise be in competition, and if they had a striker only position, he would properly be in there.

Can't really see why Terry is in there, but he is the only one really looking a bit out of place IMO.

Agree, surprised with Terry myself, nice to see Stevie in there though.

Someone was saying the other day that Gerrard was as good as Kaka, that he offered as much or more, well, good to see the company he's put in here, and imo he belongs totally.

Puyol, he's another doubt for me.

Think thats about right except for Terry. Looks more like a 4-6-0 formation than anything though. Need a striker, so for arguments sake, stick Torres in there (next year son) and

          -----------------Casillas---------------

          --Ramos-----Terry-----Puyol------Lahm---

          ----------Gerrard--------Xavi-------------

          -----Ronaldo------Kaka-------Messi-------

          -----------------Torres------------------

He's been amazing for them (according to my Bayern Supporting friend). The German league has a very low profile in Europe and therefore you dont really hear much about the star players. If he had been playing in England he would have been up there for the PFA award

I think Sergio Ramos has been absolutely garbage over the past year or so. All he ever does is make mistakes and concede fouls. Terry is another ridiculous one. Vidic has been twice the player he has been

Yes, by far their best player of the season and of the Bundesliga.

                      Ramos has been shockingly bad.

I can see why Terry gets in there although I think Vidic and Ferdinand were better than both Puyol and him.

                      .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

I'll actually agree with you in that both Vidic and Ferdinand have been the best defensive partnership in Europe for the past two seasons but I don't understand how Terry and Puyol get in there.

Ramos hasn't been the same since the Euros.

cheers lads, knew the guy was a talent, but as you say the bundesliga is quite low profile so I dont get to see much action there. Another player that we should have looked to have got before he went to Bayern
