They could always go crazy and offer a reasonably priced per game internet feed of their own. Cooperate with Sky/Setanta if needs be. Surely they have to want to do something along those lines in the future any way.

Having said that I think it's very likely the broadcasters don't own the live internet screening rights. I think there has been some resistance on the part of the clubs (the big clubs, of course) not to bundle them together so they can control them themselves. The theory is it's the Trojan Horse by which the big clubs break down collective rights (broadcast TV, internet, radio, whatever) so they can appropriate a bigger share of the total pot.
Suppose it doesn't matter which way they divvy it up really, the end consumer will always lose out.

that's so ridiculous I can see this government going for that.

****s sake, as if our government hasn't got more important things to worry about that SkyTV and the internet.

Never going to happen. Lets see them try to stop the people in china and asia broadcasting the games over the web. ****ing idiots it like the music industry trying to stop the downloading of music or pirate movies on the web. It is never going to happen. you cannot control the internet as is is so vast. As if the government don't have better things to do than help the PL get more money never mind the credit crunch the government should put everything on hold for this.

It's just like the music and film industry trying to stop file sharing.

It will never ever ever work, there'll always be a way.

If those companies were progressive and forward thinking they would think of it as free advertising.
