    More transfer gossip:

Having brought Emile Heskey to Villa Park, Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill will now try to lure Michael Owen from Newcastle. (Various)

Hope he doesn't get Owen, football tends to throw up quirky twists of fate, so having left us for the so called big trophies and then failing miserably on that score, it would be a hard sight to then see him lift the Prem before us, the one trophy Liverpool FC desire more than anything, and with Villa too, please god no.

As unlikely as it is, and i do realise it is very unlikely, but not impossible, things like this sometimes happen in football, and i just see a nasty possibility if he does sign Owen and gets a couple of excellent seasons out of him. Hopefully not eh.

I really think we will regret not getting Heskey.

In all the analysis on here about his goal scoring and contribution I had forgotten how good his defensive heading is. Keeps being mentioned on the commentary for the Villa - Pompey game.

Especially the way our set pieces have been going recently.

Villa have now won their last four Premier League games and their last six away from home - and the result at Fratton Park moves them above Chelsea and level on points with Liverpool, both of whom play on Wednesday.”

Fair play to Villa – I really hope they end the season in the top four. As for Martin O’Neill, he really knows how to motivate his players and get the best out of a limited squad. He is a top manager.

He's not a cock. People only think that the way he acted when we tried to poach Barry from them.

He's a very good manager, and has always played an attractive style of football. Villa are bloody great to watch
