Birmingham snap up Traore on loan

Story from BBC SPORT, 2009/02/10 15:37:46 GMT

Birmingham have signed defender Djimi Traore on an emergency three-month loan deal from Premier League Portsmouth.

Traore, 28, began his career in England with Liverpool, where he won a 2005 Champions League winners medal, before moving to Charlton in August 2006.

Traore joined Pompey for £1m after only five months at The Valley, but has failed to feature regularly for the South Coast club.

He will be at St Andrew's for a maximum of 93 days under the rules of the deal.

    Yeah right, him.

Makes sense, he'll do alright for them i think.

really, id say the man who played left back because we had no better options and made 100% of fans cringe when he got anywhere near the ball

Yes really, he was great for us in that CL campaign helping us keep 2 clean sheets against Chelsea aswell as in Turin. "Played left back because we had no better options"? Haha well obviously!!!! You can apply that to every player playing in world football.

And dont speak for me on this "cringing" stuff, ta.

of course putting traore on the teamsheet brought dread to us all, but from what i remember he put in a couple of stirling performances to win that medal and deserves it 100%, still didnt stop me ****ting myself everytime the ball went near him though

I don't know why people dislike Traore so much. He clearly wasn't good enough but he was an integral part of a fantastic day in Istanbul and had a few other moments in that CL run. He seeemed to have a decent attitude and I wish him well wherever he goes.

I don't think people dislike Traore. I think he became a figure of fun more than anything due to his sheer ineptitude in most games. That and the fact, as previously mentioned, he gave 99% of us heart attacks every time he went near the ball.

Agreed, some of the stuff said about him is sickening, and while im aware some of it is a joke some clearly isnt. (LFC Forums in general).

He's one player who'll certainly be able to say he got the most out his potential at some point, he worked hard, wasnt any bother and played his part in the run to the greatest night of some of our lives.

Ultimately he was a regular in a CL winning team of ours, a bit of respect wouldnt go amiss.

He would have left on fantastic terms if he had been sold after the champions league final...........but then he was offered a 4 year contract when everybody knew he wasn't good enough.
