We've scored our fair share of late goals this season alone.

Wigan, Boro, Man City, Pompey, Chelsea.... Just because they were 2-1/3-2 rather than 1-0 doesn't mean they were any more or less "lucky" that they Manc's late wins.

When we were at the top of the league plenty on here would probably have said it was partly down to luck, and there by default because the other teams were dropping points. Man U are at the top of the league because they have more points than us, thus they deserve to be there. They haven't conceded a bloody goal in about twelvety games! They had a sticky patch early on in the season but since then they've been pretty good, and have been no more or less lucky than we have.

I still don't see how it is "luck" to score in the last minute anyway? As Zimbo said, a game is 90 minutes long, so what does it matter if you score a winner in the first or last minute?

It just seems to me to be looking for any other reason than to admit that actually, Man Utd are rather bloody good.

well us and chelsea have been stronger for most of the season, UTD havent looked like the best team this season (apart from when they played chelsea, but we also made them both look average). They took advantage of us and chelsea's ****e form over nov-jan

Yes they do. But you were arguing that United were lucky because they'd scored so many late goals. That's generally got less to do with luck and more to do with superior fitness, ability, commitment and a winning mentality.

If most of those goals had been the aforementioned arse-rebounds or refereeing clangers then you might have a case. Unfortunately, the goals would still stand either way, so it's all a bit academic really.

just out of curiosity, after watching a UTD game against a lower team, when its been 0-0 for 80-88 minutes, they they score a jammy goal late on, how many of you shouted "you lucky *******s"?

i agree the praise for them can go overboard but they are top cos they deserve to be - in fact its a nonsense argument

when dealing with less intellectually minded people you do find they disguise this by such means

your opinion is that the scum are lucky - that is evidently wrong - the league proves this

same as if you told me the moon was made of cheese - this is in fact an opinion and not a fact

my opinion is that if we hadnt drawn 8 out of our last 17 league games, UTD wouldnt be top. They are only top because we let them, hence they are lucky in that sence. I also think they are lucky in a lot of games they play. They get a lot of dodgy decisions there way and i dont think rooney would have played many games without a red card if he didnt play for them. I also think that late goals are lucky.
