    Sissoko

Are there any Italian footy fans on here who can say how Momo has got on in Serie A?

I always thought he was pretty poor/average at best, but he was one of those players where there was always a hardcore group of fans who believed he was half decent no matter how many times he gave the ball away. I can't say who they were as I think theres a ban on the term at the moment...

Anyway, I know he's injured now for the rest of the season, but hows he been doing?

Played 20 odd games, a couple of goals. Seems to be a regular.

He was for us though to be fair. Is he actually the same old Sissoko or has he turned into a decent player?

i haven't seen any of him in italy - but my view differs slightly - when he first arrived he was ****ing class for us, granted he wasn't spreading the ball 50 yds to feet, but thats not what he is about - he was energtic, brave, commited and gave our midfield a real bit of bite that we lacked - i have said this before and everyone i spoke to who went the game agreed as opposed to those who had watched it on tv cause it probably didn't show on the tv - but in the cup final against west ham he was nothing short of unreal!!! ok gerrard stole the headlines with his two super goals, but momo sissoko covered every blade of grass that day - and in extra time, when we had players dropping left right and centre with cramp! momo was carrying us - at one point i remember him either clearing a corner or defending something on the edge of our box and the ball being hoofed clear deep into the west ham half and momo somehow covered the ground and closed the defender down!

there were other performences like this as well. Sadly tho i think he suffered badly with his injuries, the eye one was horrific, and then his shoulder had him out for a few months

I also feel that momo got left behind, maybe due to his injuries, and prob down to his own ability - but he came into a side that had no real fight/grit/energy and gave us what we needed, but as the team has (and it has despite what some think!!!!) evolved and improved and passing got better, we wanted/needed more from momo and he couldn't provide it cause he had been left behind a bit if that makes sense

In the end his head had gone, he had lost his confidence and for whatever reason he looked half the player we originally signed and where hoping to develop - i think the signing of mascher killed him off, as mascher offered the same qualities of energy and bite to the midfield but seemed more able to cope/adapt with the passing.

The reports I have seen from Italy have been wildly varying - he seems either to be MoM or a bit of a villain. I have seen him all of once - his passing looked more assured and he played pretty well.

He did look good initially, but I always had issues with his passing ability, especially when under pressure which is why I thought he may do better in Italy.

You're probably right, Maschers arrival did kill him off.

I might be wrong but I seem to recall him being not so full of praise for LFC just before being transferred.

I was half asleep at the time but I listened to the latest Guardian footie podcast last night and I'm fairly sure they seemed to think he would be a big miss (he's injured for the CL game) as he's been consistently one of their best performers

Sissoko is currently a player at Juventus F.C and is referred to by some fans as the black ninja

my juve supporting mate said he's a big player for them, but still has games where he passes the ball to the opposing player 2 meters away from him 10 times in a row, and was even subbed in the middle of the first half for the very same reason in one match

                  9 out of 10 matches he's a fantastic player

He has done well and possibly been one of the few reasons to why Ranieri has kept his job. He was absolutely magnificent in both games against Real which were the games which decided the fate of Ranieri. An absolute shoe in for them, has relished playing for Juve and I can see him becoming better and better.

my juve mate said he was pissed off when they got him but his energy and drive in a slower league makes him a big player for them, and he's now a fan

I still wonder sometimes whether Alonso isn't a more effective player with a high energy player who breaks up play further up the pitch (like Sissoko) along side him in the PL rather than Mascher. I think the depth that our two CMs play is a major factor in the problems we have as a team in the league.

I liked Momo but like PTP has already said he looked a bit lost later on in his career, injuries, confidence whatever, I wish him the best, hes the type of player that I enjoy watching if only because every now & then he hoofs the ball up 1/2 mile!!
