    Darren Ferguson

    Peterborough boss earns accolade

Peterborough United boss Darren Ferguson has been named as the League One manager of the month for March.

Ferguson's side won all six of their league fixtures during the period.

Posh defeated Leyton Orient, Hartlepool United, Scunthorpe United, Northampton Town, Bristol Rovers and Leicester City in March.

The other contenders for the award were Simon Grayson of Leeds United, Kenny Jackett of Millwall and Southend United's Steve Tilson. (BBC)
He seems good, Peterborough are 2nd in League One at the moment.

Seems to be doing a good job. Would have took him at Wrexham a few years back when he retired from playing, but they never offered him the job now look where we are

There were rumours at the time that had he been offered the job his purple nose dad may have come in and pulled us out of the ****!

As much as Ferguson snr. is a knobhead, if his lad is asking his advice he can't go wrong IMO.

Oh and he beats his wife up (allegedly)

He took peterborough up from League 2 last season didnt he? Would be some achievement if he can do 2 promotions in 2 seasons

It's a more than decent achievement but he has had pretty much the biggest budget in both those divisions to do it with.

          Indeed.

In June 2003, he married Nadine Metcalfe.[7] The couple, who have two children, Charlie (b.1999) and Grace (b.2002),[8] separated in August 2007.[9] On 23 October 2007, Ferguson was arrested on suspicion of assaulting his estranged wife on the driveway of his father's home in Wilmslow, Cheshire. He was released on bail. [10]

He appeared at Macclesfield Magistrates Court on 23 January 2008 charged with common assault, to which he pleaded not guilty.[11] On 10 April 2008 he changed his plea to guilty and was fined £1500, plus costs.[12] (Wikipedia)

He beat our Leicester last week. They deserved to win but they don't have the best of run ins if they want to win League One, which I doubt. Promotion is promotion.

I have a friend in Peterborough and just asked him his opinion. He seems pretty happy:

He is a very good manager. When he arrived he bought players in from
the non-league scene and they've nearly all worked out brilliantly.
He's had money to spend from the owner, but he hasn't gone mad. He
bought players cheaply and has been able to turn down big offers for
some of them (I think Aaron McLean was the subject of a £3m bid and
they said no to it). He has a couple of players who could get into the
Premier League right now, I think. I hope they get promoted because
then he won't leave. Probably.... ;-)

The best thing is that he hasn't begged his father for players and has
              done it on his own.

Fair play Mrs B. to a degree my view will always be a bit coloured by being a part time Cambridge fan. I do however think though that being able to turn down big bids is as important at that level as being able to spend big money. Stability is a huge asset. I may come across as overly negative but I think it is still to be seen how much of a chip off the old block he is or where on the O'Neill -> Mickey Adams scale of managers who fight up the divisions he will come.
