Manure fans are blind... I watched us v Fulham and Tim Sherwood said the Cottage has been tough for the top four this season and ONLY Liverpool managed to open them up and create chances.. Manure we're lucky yday, the guys on Radio 5 all said it should have been a draw...

Don't go writing off our title chances just yet. Yes that Boro game was abject and so very poor... its the worst I've seen us play in a long long time...

But they have a few games against teams in the relegation battle, Sunderland this coming weekend, then Boro away (and they need 3pts bad!!) and Pompey (who could steal a point!! dont count out a Crouch goal at the Toilet!) it isn't over yet... and I reckon North London will have a shout as to who wins the title this year... Arsenal and Tottenham both have to play at our place as well as playing at the Toilet... and it will be interesting to see how those games play out..

Keep the faith guys and gals!

She isn't singing yet... she's still in the shower

But look at it another way, nobody really expected Villa to win at Old Trafford, they always bottle it there.

Nothing changes in my book anyway. We still remain in the same situation. We need to win everyone of our games and if we do I guarantee we will win the title. Man Utd will drop 4 points at the very least.

The flip side is I don't expect us to win all our games and I was hoping that the quicker teh mancs dropped the points the more able we will be to drop the points.

Because if we drop points before the Mancs play their next game it will again be very difficult if they go and win.

But it was very clear to see today that they were feeling the pressure big time. And I will be interested to see how they do on Tuesday now after such a tough game mentally.

And by the way, Sunderland away is not an easy game, especially when they need the points. And I would assume Ricky Sbragia knows a few thing sabout United he can use in his favour.
Maybe Danny, but when they're 2-1 up with less than 10 minutes left, you kinda hope they'd have enough backbone and experience to at least get something from the game, if not a win.

My only problem is that United have now got their morale and confidence back, as well as Rooney, Scholes, Vidic and Ferdinand back. That CB pairing is a tough nut to crack and i cant see Sunderland or Pompey breaching their backline.

I can't see Sunderland breaching anyones defences at the minute. I think Pompey are one of those teams who on their day can cause anyone problems but have too many systematic flaws in the squad to be consistently good. If we win the league something against the odds will have to happen but I'm not going to give up hope yet.

Villas lack of resolve was a bit of a pisser though.

            I agree dww.

TBH, i dont think Sunderland and Portsmouth are where our hopes are resting. Realistically, Spurs and Arsenal at OT and Boro & Wigan away, are the ones where most of our hopes will rest.

The key thing for these next two league games, is that we stay on their tails as, if they're gonna blow it, it wont be for a couple of weeks yet. We MUST keep breathing down their necks.

Having slept on it and almost got over their spawny cuntishness, the more they have to struggle and dig deep for results at this point in the season the more it will **** up the rest of their season. Their players were absolutely knackered yesterday, it was evident after 10 minutes even. That was won by adrenaline and nothing else

Remember Carra's book? He said it took till the final (CC was it?) and half way through he realised that he was absolutely ****ed. Had nothing left in the tank. This ****ing has to happen to them

It sort of requires that every team take them on though - which is what I worry about. There are at least a couple of teams who you can imagine ****ing off their games with United to concentrate on other ones.

The attacking players at United have more than enough to deal with teams who don't put up much resistance without breaking sweat.

Hrm good point that. Do you mean people like Spurs who are just hanging around midtable? Surely the relegation threatened ones won't just roll over, especially now they don't seem quite so invincible anymore

To me they can drop points in any of the games quite easily..even if they don't, they may get to the City game and come undone. Then they have Arsenal and Hull which they'll do well to get maximum points from. In fact Arsenal will turn them over imo

They only need to drop points once and they'll be bricking it

I think both are possibilities. It depends on the fixture right after United for the opposition and how quick it comes.

I agree with your final statement but it does somewhat assume that we keep on winning.

The best result we can hope for from teams like Sunderland and Portsmouth are 0-0s. They are unlikely to score goals however have the ability to shut teams out - evidence was earlier in the season from Sunderland but for a late Vidic goal.

I've always said, the games in the Champions League are key. Benitez in the past has prioritised the Champions League mainly due to Liverpool not having anything to fight for in the league so its balance which is key. If for example, I'm going to bypass this stage, one of the teams struggles in the first leg of their respective semi, how do approach the league game in between? Full team and risk injury? Half team and risk result? The game between each leg of the semis are as follows:

                      Liverpool v Newcastle
                      Middlesborough v Manchester United

And I'm going to throw a spanner in the works here - the team that could face Manchester United in the semi finals - Arsenal. Pretty much sewn up fourth spot, their objective to the season. Their fixture:

                      Portsmouth v Arsenal.

Pretty much a nothing game, if you were to ask.

Yesterday, United showed that even though they don't have the strength in depth, they can win - albeit with a lot of luck from a skewed shot from Ronaldo and a 17 year old. As much as physical application is key at this stage of the season, mental will probably drive of these teams that extra step closer to the title. Pundits and commentators will say United will benefit from that and have the experience to win this title now however have Alex Ferguson really been in a title race with Liverpool before? Has Wayne Rooney ever felt the heavy pant from Liverpool down his hairy neck before? Psychologically, one 'bad' result could lead to chaos again, it might have already, two - on the proviso Liverpool capitalise, can lead to self implosion. A sight all Liverpool fans would love to see.

I actually don't buy this. Teams like Sunderland don't really have the mental toughness to hold an 0-0 as witnessed by the way that they were dominated and eventually broken down in that game. We have to hope they get a goal preferably late-ish in the game and then hang on for a win or draw. If it's 0-0 going into the last 10 minutes I would always bet on United against lesser teams.

I'd probably agree with that more than my point.

A joke my brother in law told me:

What do Van Der Sar, Heurelho Gomes and vampires have in common?

I always had Man U down to beat Villa. This doesn't change my prediction (done on BBC predictor) of both ending up on 82 points end of season but us winning on goal difference.

i want to punch the **** out of that martin o neill.

                              still pissed off.

this was the chance for 3 points to be taken from a team missing some of their better players.and the cunts blew it.

                              ****ty villa
i hope they finish as low as possible.

and ashley young wants to leave to sign for liverpool.

i was certain we would win the title

                              not so sure now

                              still believe though

We proved they can be beaten by a good team, Fulham proved they can be beaten by an average team. Aston Villa are just crap, their position flatters them. We are stronger than Manchester United, we're better against tough opposition and when we're expected to struggle. I feel more positive about the league now than at any point so far in the season. Manchester United will drop points, if we win our remaining fixtures then number 19 is ours.
