Wenger's an idiot, but if they did do points for goals we'd be top of the league this season wouldn't we? Which makes his suggestion even more bizarre as it doesn't help his team.

Why should he let facts get in the way, he's essentially just trying to add fuel to the fire of Arsenal being the best footballing side
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Could you not just read it that he genuinely believes this would be good for football. While at times he is a prize **** when defending his team he has always been a consistent advocate of attacking passing football. I just think he is remaining true to his principles.
I think Arsenal would do better if teams were more open - I don't agree that it is necessary to change the rules to improve the game. To my mind it is up to attacking passing coaches to find ways to maximise the effectiveness of that type of football.

I don't think a 5-0 victory over West Brom should be worth more points than a 1-0 victory over Chelsea. It's just so wrong on so many levels.

I agree about that - I think the idea would be counter productive and merely serve to increase the gap between the haves and have nots in the PL. I just don't think that Wenger is being anything other than a slightly misguided romantic on this one. I think people are being unfair on him was my main point.

Disagree, don't think he's being misguided, these type of comments in the media serve him quite well. His agenda is to preserve the "best football in the country" myth that surrounds his team so that people will continue to ignore the fact he's won **** all in the last few years. Mourinho was right about him, he's in the most cushy job in the world.
