Thanjk you.

Villa, in terms of net spend, have spent the third most in the whole of Europe. That is according to Gabriele Marcotti
I would think Real Madrid and Bayern have done more.
On who??
James Milner must be their biggest but I think they may have spent a few quid for Carlos Cuellar.
Steve sidwell doesn't seem to represent value for money either..
The thing is though that it is about having that level of investment of a consistent period of time. Huge squad overhaul is often as damaging as it is beneficial. I think that the way O'Neill has gone about squad building is sensible although as always managers come across as a bit annoying and self justifying when defending themselves in terms of spending.
Moyes and O'Neill have done very good jobs IMO. The former in particular tends not to get the credit he deserves on here.

That maybe because all he does is harp on about he gets little credit and how little spending he has had in comparison to the top four. If he were to adopt a bit more of a humble approach to his press conferences, especially against us, he would possibly gain a bit more credit from the Liverpool fans.
I think we apply unfair criteria to rival managers (actually I think in general we over analyse all comments in the press - see the constant attacks on Pennant for saying he wished he played more and the reaction to every word Rafa says to the press). All he is doing is trying to put their achievements in perspective - getting 5th/6th is a good achievement for them and getting into the top four would be overachieving but their start to the season made a lot of people expect that.
I think he is trying to get credit for his players and to dispel the impression that the season is a failure if they don't reach the CL. Seems like a sensible thing to do for me.

Possibly. I personally think a lot of fans find him extremely annoying with his constant jibes about Liverpool - see Goals on Sunday from a few weeks ago (I think Shaggy mentioned it)
Right leave the tit for tat nonsense out please. If I'd noticed it before I would have said something then but really it does nothing for the forum at all.
