i dont think that man city keeping hughes is even an issue now,too much money and impatience will dictate they have a new manager next season i think jose is favourite his chance to make man city the first in manchester will prove irresistable, or am i wrong.

I really can't see a top manager like Mourinho taking the job. Someone on the second rung is a likely candidate to build a team squad in the way Ranieri did at Chelsea before someone takes them to the next level. For a few years City will struggle to get motivated top quality players and I think top managers will know that and unless they are out of a job City won't be that attractive to them.
Sven is the right level of manager for them at the minute but then I think so is Hughes. I wouldn't be surprised if he stayed on actually but with a major squad overhaul all the noises coming out of the club have indicated more understanding for Hughes and dislike of the behaviour of Robinho and Elano than otherwise. I still think he is favourite to be sacked but I wouldn't be shocked if he survived until next season. He needs to show he can impose some sort of shape on the team though."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

Gerard Houllier would be a good shout for them. Someone to give them some sort of stability and discipline. Then, as you said DWW, bring in the big name to take them to the next level.
I don't think Hughes has that club under control and it's one of those things that you impose from day one otherwise it's too late. I think he could've been the right man for the job but that boat has sailed now.

It's a good point about having to impose order straight away. Houllier is also a good shout - I would think that depending on what happens elsewhere Jol and even Sven are also teh right sort of manager. As an outside bet I think Klinnsman might be considered."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

Personally I think David Moyes could do a job for them. It would also piss off Slur Alex as he wants him for Manure. You have to agree he made Everton consistant top half team with very little cash.Originally posted by dww View PostIt's a good point about having to impose order straight away. Well they took a punt on Mark Hughes and I would say that Ginge has a much better record than him.Originally posted by dww View PostAye. I'm not sure that he has the right profile for the Man City owners though.
I would love to see Moyes move on from the bitters and see them get relegated.Go **** yourself

Hughes was appointed by Shinawatra and I suspect they just kept him on as it was as good a bet as any. The fact he hasn't worked I would think would lead them to look further afield."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

And it has to be said that whilst Everton have a good team, their football is not exactly what I'd expect from Robinho and Kaka (or whoever) and I'm not convinced Moyes could get them playing a way that would bring results.
Of course, Moyes would point out that his team plays that way because of the limitations in the squad. But Mark Hughes probably said the same thing.
If I was at City I would want the best possible, and that would have to be Mourinho. Either that or stick with Hughes and get Hiddink when he finishes with Russia.Forwards.......

I would think the Arabs would want a big named manager to go along with their prima-donna players and someone who has title winning pedigree - Sven would be ideal however would they want him considering his past with them? He did however deliver Lazio the title with one of the most expensive sides ever assembled.
Frank Rijkaard could be another name which might be mentioned. He has done it with Barcelona where he did win back to back titles and a European Cup. Names don't come bigger than Frank unless they want to go down the pensioners route and go for Carlo Ancelotti who has said this week he won't go to Chelsea and he is staying put. A few million pounds might change his mind. The Brazilians at the club could vouch for Felipe Scolari, what a comeback that could be.

Did anyone see the Man City owner Sheikh Mansour on the tv programme Piers Morgan in Dubai? Well, put it this way, money will be no object for him when it comes to recruitment of players or the Manager.
Personally I can see them trying to get Mourinho but ending up with Rijkaard."Its not about the long ball or the short ball, its about the right ball." Bob Paisley
