Change of policy for the Gooners

    From BBC Sport:

Arsenal are poised to sign Brazilian forward Wellington, who plays for Fluminense, in the summer. (Various)

No more Wenger youth policy then. I had a pair of his signature boots when I was a kid.

I've still got a pair now, although they've not seen the light of day for a long time. Pretty poor for footy tho, very little traction and not much give in them, altho they did offer good ankle support...bloody difficult to run in them tho.

Good for keeping the shinpads in place, as I recall.

Is anyone having any more luck than me in creating a funny crack about the Battle of Waterloo? Is there a player called Napoleon that Wenger could sign? Does Fluminense have a winger called Blucher who is good at attacking the opposition's right flank?

Come on, surely someone can broaden the range so it's not just a boots-related thread, good though it is.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

He's a defensive midfielder according to Wiki.

Not sure it counts if you need two sentences to build it up though.

So I wasn't alone in finding it impossible to extend the puns beyond boots.

                            Sorry, I don't get that.

If boots are the only way to go...

I suppose he was never going to sign for Chelsea.

                            And Arsenal/Gunners is suitably martial.

Is he any good? We could Duke it out for his signature.

There's always Arthur chance of winning the battle if it goes Wells.
