I don't think I have to stress how massive a result a Portsmouth win would be tonight, though personally I can't really see it.
I think they will stroll their next two home games against Pompey and Spurs. I could however see them struggling in their next two games against Boro and City.
Either way, I would say that we need them to drop three points prior to their last three games to keep the title race alive for us. Continue to win ours and that leaves them Wigan away, Arsenal home and Hull away to drop three further points. All along I expected United to drop six points before the season ends, but the problem is in drawing last night I have us as needing to win the last five for the title, which is a tough ask when big stakes are riding on each game.
Anyhow, back on track. We all know lately that the Mancs have been abysmal ever since that 4-1 thrashing. Listening to Fergie after each game since he has spouted such noncense it's been pathetic. Such drivel as "The Liverpool defeat will be good for us" and so many corner turning results he was beginning to sound like a desperate Gerard Houllier in his last days at LFC. Truth be told, they have not turned the corner and have remained poor.
It was a massive gamble by Ferguson on the weekend to rest all the stars for tonights game. I know all the mancs I know were seething when they saw the line up against Everton and they paid for it. Nearly got away with it, but nearly aint good enough. It was clear that Ferguson was resting his players with tonight in mind. Get a big result tonight with a good performance and he may feel partly vindicated in his decisions.
They have failed to play well since the 4-1 and need a performance tonight. If they get it there season could be back on track. hope they flatter to decieve once again. They'll come out flying, just have to hope Pompey don't cave in early doors as they tend too at Old Trafford.
