Ha - was just looking on the Barca website and I noticed that Pique's full name is "Gerard Piqué Bernabeu" That's like Mark Everton Walters playing for us
Chelsea were lucky that they didn't get a couple more early bookings. Could have had an impact. Anyway, **** game, barca are on a different level in terms of skill but they try to play it so accurately and tight that they will suffer against English sides, as they have in the last few years.

Well well, after all the predictions on here about Barca being too good for Chelsea I have to laugh. Chelsea did exactly what Man Utd did last year with two banks of four and Barca had no answer.
Messi was once again poor against an English side. He looks magical when he is given oceans of space on a weekly basis in La Liga, but when he plays against a team that can defend he seems to struggle.
I'd still fancy Barca to go through, but if Chelsea come charging out the blocks they could well steamroller Barca, especially with them playing away v Real Madrid and with key players at the back out. It's not looking good. I smell a repeat of last years final what with the Arsenal players dropping like flies.
Tonight Barca were to predictable. Could have been oh so different had they put away one of their gilt edged chances, but then I guess Drogba could have made it worse.
I was looking forward to this game. It was probably one of the worst I've seen all season. As anothjer poster said: Chelsea sitting back and Barca rolling around on the floor. ****e.
Barcelona and their 'thread a ball through the tiniest of gaps' style pissed me off tonight.
They obviously never face the 'two banks of four' organised, compact type of defence in La Liga. Having said that, they broke through a couple of times and Cech saved the day.
Embarrassing from Chelsea, a £400m team goes to spoil. Really embarrassing and shameful. No intention of scoring a goal.
And how the ref didnt give Barca that penalty, i'll never know.
Not sure who the favourites are now. The idiot chelsea fans and stupid media will be crowing about a great away performance, but they're forgetting that they relied on Cech to be brilliant to get their 0-0 draw. Also forgetting that Chelsea now have to beat Barca to go through. Barca dont have to beat Chelsea.
And Chelsea wont play that anti-football style in the 2nd leg, so Barca will find it easier to play through them.

To be fair, Barca didnt struggle to find an answer, so much as they found a great keeper in top form. And whilst their style is indeed predictable, predicting it and stopping it are different things.
The 0-0 indicates that Chelsea were impossible to break down, but it's simply down to a great performance from Cech - on another night, it could easily have been 3-0.

I remember one good chance for Chelsea and three good chances for Barcelona. Cech was quick of his line for both the Eto'o and Hleb chances, but other than that he had NOTHING to do.
Hleb only broke through because the Chelsea backline didn't realise Ballack was rolling around on the floor. And though Eto'o did get through he was quickly pegged back by Alex, who forced himinto a poor shot.
I'm not gonna say Cech had a poor game, but he did not exactly produce an inspirational display. In truth, he had very little to do. For all the possession Barca had I would have to say that they did indeed struggle against a solid Chelsea side.
To be fair, Eto'o did well to dummy and send Alex sprawling, but if he'd just seen the easy square ball to Henry, there would've been a tap-in.
Correct. Had they played like a team more they would well have had more chances anyhow. Even Hleb at the end was playing for himself. He had a chance to cut it back but instead smashed it into the side netting whilst off balance.
I just feel Barca were too easily frustrated by what was at best a work man like performance by Chelsea. It does make me question how Barca would have done against Muncih had Lahm been available for the first leg to take on Messi.

I think Bayern had too many problems further up the field for Lahm to have made a difference. They were far far too open
