It would in some ways be an odd move but I don't think City are a big step down from Villa given what Learner has been saying about cutting back on spending. Their squad was still small and they faded badly at the end of the season. City on the other hand will be buying in top players and already have a very good home record. I think they are quite likelly to finish above Villa next season bar exceptional signings by O'Neill.Originally posted by Fierce View PostWell personally i'm gutted we didn't get him. I think he would have made an excellent addition
If he goes though, he'll be doing it solely for the money. Despite their money, RIGHT NOW City are a step down from Villa
Cant see it helping his England aspirations either
With all the above in mind, I wouldn't be too surprised to see him at Anfield next season anyway
I mean, if he says he doesn't wanna go to City, he doesnt have to, right?
I think it is a big miss not getting Barry. Although possibly Rafa has his eyes on someone else cheaper to provide options in midfield."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

Barry will be first choice at Man City, a team that no doubt will be challenging for top honours within the next three seasons at the latest IMO. In fact, with them out of Europe I could see them finishing top 4 next season if they sign the right players.Originally posted by Fierce View PostDespite their money, RIGHT NOW City are a step down from Villa

Man City are the new Chelsea and will no doubt rack up a good squad sooner rather than later. If we don't get a stadium started sooner rather than later we'll be left behind in the years to come, again.
Must say, I'd have liked Barry here and if Alonso left he would have been my first choice as replacement. But I think Barry leaving for City is a further indication that Alonso will stay.Forwards.......

**** me that was fast. Was only talks of it for a day or two (spose it makes it easier if you can pull the dough out your back pocket). Not sure what to think of this tbh, i resigned myself to expecting him to be in our midfield this season.
Oh well, he's gonna be disappointed at another fruitless club (although soon to be Chavski MKII).“…Slip like Freudian, your first and last step to playing yourself like accordion.”

I'm pretty sure he's thinking about the world cup. City are going places, no doubt about it, and he'll be guaranteed a first team place so it's not a bad move for his career (it most certainly isn't for his pocket).
They've got a pretty good front 6 lined up:
De Jong
Ireland Barry
WrightP Tevez? Robinho

Another Lucas Neill. Overrated and purely after the money. There is no way he'd have got 100k from us, so he's gone to ****eh.
Remember he wouldn't put in a transfer request last year cos he wanted some payment he thought he was owed? **** off Barry, thanks for confirming you are, and never were, an LFC standard player :bird:
