    well im glad thats over.

what a no mark. if city match his ambitions, they'd need a midfield as good as ours. if he fears he wont play regularly in our midfield, how will he get into citys? if anything him choosing city is like owen choosing newcastle and if that is what the lad is after, good luck to him.

    wonder if xabi is staying...

Would you not be interested in a pay rise of £50k a week.

I think they are quite likelly to finish above Villa next season bar exceptional signings by O'Neill.

I think it is a big miss not getting Barry. Although possibly Rafa has his eyes on someone else cheaper to provide options in midfield.

Man City are the new Chelsea and will no doubt rack up a good squad sooner rather than later. If we don't get a stadium started sooner rather than later we'll be left behind in the years to come, again.

Must say, I'd have liked Barry here and if Alonso left he would have been my first choice as replacement. But I think Barry leaving for City is a further indication that Alonso will stay.
Agreed. I also think it proves that O'Neill is a bouncing **** if his captain leaves Aston Villa to join Manchester City.

HAHAHA what a loser Barry is! Going to Manchester City. So much for him saying he would only leave villa for CL football. Glad he isn't coming I am sure his millions will keep him warm when we go for the title and CL next season. Typical hastings pikey!

I'm not sure if we were interested in him.

I am sure we dropped our interest last season. All i am saying is that he is leaving for Man city who have no european football. Also he is 29 and Man city are still about 3 years away from the top 4.

To be fair i wouldn't rule out City winning the league next year.

I would for the reason that Mark Hughes is manager.

Barry has signed a 5 year deal. Thank **** for that. No one in the top 4 must have bid for him so it was either stay at villa or move to city. How funny is that. So much for us, united and Arsenal bidding for him LOL.

I thinkk there odds of 50/1 are realistic, to many fair weather players and they need at least 2 more seasons to build a better squad
