Happy days!
But he was already in a team this year that did press the top 4, where he was adored and club captain!!!

I get that you are glad we aren't signing him but I still think the only reason he could possibly leave to go there was the money. No loyalty in football these days

City finished lower in the Prem, with less points, this term than they did last.

They have a ****ing long way to go to become a top four side. They aren't like Chelsea - people forget Chelsea had over ten years of progressive managers who brought real quality players and grew the team superbly. They were a top four side before Abramovich bought them and had many of their best players already.

well what have we here, youve made your bed and now you must lie in it.he is signing for a club who will just about buy anyone who can kick a ball I remember ron atkinson doing the same at the scum we all can expect some dodgy players turning up at eastlands, the motto being if lpool, chelsea, arsenal, and the scum are intereested the he must be good go for him.

You are probably right. I guess we can all celebrate if this means it's even less likely Alonso will leave.

Indeed. But I'll wait until the end of the transfer window first. We'll look like right pricks if Alonso leaves now and we end up with some other mug.

If Alonso went Barry was by far the best replacement available to us. And I'm 100% certain he would have joined us if he could have been assured of first team football.

If Xabi left before the bid would have to have been a big one. Now it must be massive to make me even contemplate it.

Still, what if Rafas plan is to drop Stevie into CM and bring in another player to play off Torres?

I think this is good news all round, hopefully this will put some of the Alonso rumours to rest.

I think its good for City to, although I think they over paid to complete the deal quickly.

City are building the spine of a decent team, they have a solid keep in Given, I think they'll drop Kompany to centre back along side Onuoha and they'll have De Jong and Barry in central midfield. I wouldn't swap any of our players for them, but if I were a City fan i'd be happy with that.

As widely reported in the press, I think they are building in stages. They tried to go all out and sign the best players, but no one was interested. So now they are going for a solid premiership team. Once they have that and finish top 4, they'll add the quality.

I suspect that this year they will be the strongest team to challenge the big 4, and if one of them aint on their toes, City could grab 4th. Otherwise it's 5th and a steady progression. Every transfer window that opens they'll get stronger. It's only a matter of time. Chelsea would be still number one had Roman not got bored.

Maybe not now, but eventually Citeh will have to be taken seriously, they spend what we expect them too this season, then keep adding quality, they WILL get closer to the top 4, we can joke and take the piss all we like about Citeh, but like the Chavs before them...money on that scale will eventually buy them success... of a sort.

It may not be till they get a big name manager, but it'll happen.

I agree. City won't get distracted in Europe while Villa have lost two massive players with Barry and Laursen.

What worries me, is that of the the top 4, we are the ones on the rockiest ground as far as sustaining big name signings go's for the foreseeable future.

I'm not to worried for our future, I think we need one 1st team player (Ideally David Silva or someone else to play attacking left) and a couple of squad players and we'll push for the title again next season.

I obviously want us to win everything but if any other team was to get the backing City now have i'm happy its them, they are a big club, with decent fans, hopefully they won't end up like chelsea with their fans waving £20 notes at away fans.
